Target sells expired food and stands behind this as Policy
This store has a problem with selling expired food, When I called to let the manager on duty know, that i have again found expired food with my grocerys, ( this time dairy, last time meat) The Manager Dustin advised me that it is TARGET policy to sell items up to the day they expire. I asked for the Generla managers name, he was curt and rude and told me i could read the policy on line - And HUNG UP on me!
Hey Target read this Poilicy, DONT SHOP AT TARGET IF YOU EXPECT FOOD THAT IS NOT EXPIRED!
Please get Dustin into a few customer service classes and you may not continue to loose customers- all i wanted was an apology and assurance they will be more diligent in the future in protectig consumers.
As Much as I loved my weekly shopping trips to Target, they are over- they do not care about product safety or customers health, their Poiicy - Just sell old rotten food to any fool who does not check the date. Contrary to Dustins statement, It is the Stores responsibility to ensure they are selling fresh product, Tact sounds like they are telling the customer, let the buyer beware.
Monetary Loss: $15.

Iโm so *** suck of tired of Buying expired food from target. They make it so difficult To return anything at the Capitola California store , itโs obvious they sell expired food on the premise people wonโt what to deal with returning it.
Shame on you, Target.
Reporting you to the BBB AND ANYONE ELSE WHO WILL LISTEN. *** you, crooks.
I ordered Market Pantry Nutrition Shakes from Target Online. They shipped me ones that expired a year ago.... what a joke...
You don't say when the food expired. If the date on the product was the day you were looking at it it hasn't expired date.
Meats need to be used of frozen by the date on the package. At the end of the day Target will freeze the meat and it will be donated to a food shelf. The dates on caned and boxed goods refers to maximum freshness. The food is still good.
The date on breads is the date it should be sold by.
Bread companies take the bread approaching the date on the loaf and donate it to food shelves where it will be distributed for 10-14 days past the date on the package. As a shopper I look for dates on the products I purchase but am well aware that the food doesn't turn to poison the day after the date on the package.
Usually, the further away the expiration date is the better that the taste and the quality of the food will be. Eating something on the expiration date or shortly before usually isn't very appealing as you can taste that the taste and quality has degraded.
It doesn't magically go from good to bad overnight on the expiration date. It is a slow process that takes place over a period of weeks or months.
I just bought gum that is 2 months past the date
Target certainly is guility of selling food that has gone well past its "best if used by" date. About 6 months ago, I noticed containers of single serve Skippy peanut butter that was several months to a year pass the"use by" date.
I went to the front desk and told them about it and was told that it would be taken care of. Fast forward 3 months later and the same containers are still on the shelf. Now just several days ago (Mar. 31st), I go in there again and low and behold, that peanut butter is still there.
I took pictures of it this time and will follow up with the proper authorities. As of March 31, 1917, they had peanut butter with the "best if used by" date ranging from May 30, 2015 - Jan.
29, 1916. I find no excuse for this Target.
Somebody could get sick from that.
All stores sell items that expire that day....
As for selling already expired items, I'm sorry you shop at a *** store. I can't even tell you how many dollars of merchandise I defected out when working customer service because it was expired.
We had vendors come in and go through the product to ensure that it wasn't expired. Come on people, Target is not that terrible.
I have bought, for the third time, food that was expired from Target. First time was cheese sticks and then the most recent was honest green tea...
And I'm talking over a year old people! I drank 2 of the ice teas already, really hoping I don't get sick. I'm taking the rest if the teas back to target with my receipt...
This is just not acceptable. I am no longer buying food from Target.
You really should have asked mommy before making this post, your parents can get sued for your lies. You lied in your title saying that Target sells expired food.
If they sell the food until the day it expired that is a big lie.
It leads people to believe the food has already reached the expiry date and that they are still selling it. Also take a parent shopping with you so they can check the expiry date for you so that you don't have this same problem again.
I bought soda today from target.. The expiration date is 10/26/2015..
I have the receipt..
Oh I am 32 weeks pregnant .... Soda is on sales 5/5 ..
KevinRichards you are incorrect. I have found that Target DOES sell expired food - all the time - here in Texas.
It is not about being correct or incorrect. It is about the OP lying and using the title that they sold her expired food when the did not.
Hey, Kevin... Your first sentence does nothing for your own level of maturity. (And the whole part about "getting sued?" Extremely dumb.)
That is not dumb. I suggest that you work on your grammar before calling someone dumb.
The OP is immature by posting a fake title. You are immature.
Learn how to read before calling someone dumb. Calling someone dumb when you cannot read is immature.
It is not a lie. I always check expiration dates when I go to Target because I have gotten expired food in the past.
They have many items that are still on the shelves past the expiration dates. I have pointed this out on many occasions.
I went to Target just yesterday and my daughter put in an item that was not checked. When I opend it this morning I noticed it was past the date.
I saw food items that were expired by months!
so have I, expired by more than 2 months.
Liar according to the original review it was expired on the day or a few days after you bought it, you only used it after the expiry date. You are either trolling and pretending to be the OP or you are lying and changing your story.
I ordered a salad dressing among other food products. They were delivered yesterday- 1/11/18 and tonight I opened and used the Kraft Coleslaw Dressing on a salad.
It tasted terrible and so I looked at the date on the bottle- 0 3SEP 2017- four months out of date. Yes, Target does sell out-of-date products.
I'll bring it back to the store tomorrow. And in the future I'll be checking the dates.
