After talking with Target Corporate, they have no plans to change their CartWheel app for those that cannot afford iPhones.

I have no plans to shop there ever again.

Target has a Cartwheel App that if you do not own an a smartphone, you will not get the discount! Case in point, I bought over $100 of scarves and gloves for the Polar Vortex coming.

Went to pay and I could not get 25% discount because I did not have the app on my phone. They said it was the only way to get the discount. I got to thinking about those that don't own a smartphone just a regular phone, the elderly and homeless. Why are they punished because they don't have a phone to support an app for a major discount?

If Target is all about equality, then why are they discriminating? I spoke to the manager twice, who was was rude, condescending and stated Ma'm it's just a coupon. I said 25% off is not a coupon! I called corporate, they did not call me back.

Second call, they listened and stated it is what it is!

I'm going to see if I can get the media involved. This is a sad company that is taking advantage of those less fortunate because they don't have a Smartphone!

Reason of review: Discrimination .

Preferred solution: Have a barcode at the register that can be scanned for those who do not have a Smartphone with the Cartwheel App on it, so that EVERYONE can get the discount! .

Target Cons: Managers, Discrimination.

Cartwheel is very simple for one who hasn't a smart phone to use. Simply go to your computer and go to

http://www.cartwheel.target.com

Create an account and start shopping.

Clip your coupons and check out. Print the resulting barcode and your shopping list and bring it to the store.

BTW, a very simple smart phone can be purchased for less than $50 and almost every store on Earth has automatic WiFi that's free to use but if you like paper, just use the above steps and cartwheel is yours...it will also save your choices for the next time you log in.

I HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE WITH MANAGERS AT TARGET - I WILL NEVER SHOP THERE AGAIN - THEY HAVE RUINED WHAT USED TO BE A NICE SHOPPING EXPERIENCE - HORRIBLE GUEST SERVICES - THEY ALSO LIED TO ME OVER THE PHONE, STATING THAT GUEST SERVICES WOULD USE THEIR PHONE TO SCAN ITEMS TO RECEIVE THE DISCOUNT.

Oh my god. You are the exact reason every normal person HATES shopping during the holidays.

The majority of people have smartphones these days. Why are you causing a scene because you are naive to reality?

Think about the old days. You had to cut coupons out of a paper and take them into stores. Was that discriminatory to folks that didn't get the paper?

Lol.

What's really/most pathetic about your asinine post is the fact that you had the nerve to bring homeless people into it. Based on your OWN ADMISSION, you spent triple figures on scarves and gloves. If you really cared about the less fortunate so much, you could have bought a scarf and a pair of gloves for $3-$5 bucks and spent the rest of your money on purchasing items for the homeless.

But, nope! You want to cry on the internet.

Speaking of the internet, based on your logic, the web is a completely unneeded service that the elderly and homeless do not have access to. So, are you discriminating against them by using the internet?!?

Does that make you realize how gosh darn silly (language restrictions on here) you sound? If not, you need some mental help.

I have elderly family members and friends that do not have Smartphones. I have friends that cannot afford smart phones and use very simplistic phones.

I'm blessed enough to be able to afford one and I am advocating for those that cannot afford one by spreading the word on the Internet about Targets discriminatory policy. If you can't afford a smartphone, you don't get the discount is WRONG! I returned everything I bought and am huge advocate for those of lesser needs as well. This was not a 5-10% discount, this was a 25% discount...not small.

I made no scene and everything was said in private.

I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas and be thankful you can afford a Smartphone, not everyone can.

So exactly what is your solution to this problem for any retailer?
