Target is not fair in promoting talent

Target is a great company but does not play fair when it is time to promote their managers and is often found promoting managers who are external hires and do not know the business. I highly recommend that someone looks into Merit based promotions becasue they are non existence in this company even though they say it is. Promotions come in play when DTL like you not based on what you can do for this company. Please leave the politics for the politicians and promote people based on merits and not based on whether your DTL and STL likes you or not.

Another thing about Target, they give a raise first and then your evaluation. interesting.

Guest

I agree, I have been with Target for 3 years and see the bullsh@t that goes on before my eyes. All the good talent go out the door and seek employment at Walmart. Target maybe a great company for some people but there is not enough growth in an organization that their rules and regulation is related to communism.

Guest

Target rarely promotes from inside, despite the talent a current team member might have 80-90% of new executives (managers) are fresh college graduates with or without experience. Target wants team members to be open to and willing to change when new policies or procedure are handed down. If you are looking to work your way up in Target..look elsewhere..for they are.

smedrik

In some instances it makes sense to bring in new talent from other companies. New talent brings in fresh idea, new perspective and often an inside view into how competition functions.

Hiring outside is often preferred for these reasons. Although their may be a great deal of talent from within, policies can be taught to anybody, the experience of how the competition works cannot.

If you are looking to move up to a management position start applying outside target.

Guest

it is true that don't hire many team member inside the store for promotions. Some come from other stores or outsider.

Even worst most team members get 1% or 2% pay raises these days.

It is not a great place to work but good place to shope.

Isn't that sad?

Guest

The DTL is going to promote his buddy or the woman with the nice rack. Companies are not FAIR. You should move on and find a respectable company to work for NOT TARGET.

Guest

Have you ever thought that you aren't "talented" enough for a promotion? I'm sure if Target thought you were management material, that's where you would be. Stop blaming politics and look in the mirror.

Bad Customer Service at Target Matthews, NC

I had a very bad customer service experience today at the store located in Matthews NC. To buy a pair of shoes which didn't have a price tag, I had to go back and forth from the checkout counter to guest service four times, which took me 30 minutes to get the transaction done. Above that, an employee, Mel, instead of apologizing was very very rude which I think was very wrong. Also she tried to make it feel that I was insulting another customer and being rude to her...which was meaningless. While she was closing my transaction, she acknowledged her presence of the next customer who walked in there. But all the while when I was waiting, she was like I don't exist and how weird is that. Turns out she is the Manager - Guest services. Now how ironic is that! Talk about leading by actions! Over all the worst experience I had ever at any departmental store. p.s.I've also posted on the store's website.

Pay on Target RedCard, get your credit "frozen"

On April 14, 2011, Target received our payment of $1,500.00 They immediately "froze" our credit.....it will not be un-frozen until April 30th. I found this out on April 18th when the card was refused at the Philadelphia airport. One hour before we boarded a flight to Dublin so our son could compete in the World Championship's of Irish Dance. I had no "credit card" for the trip. Target ruined everything...but they did say they were sorry for the inconvenience..... No one could explain "why" the system was designed like this and no one cared!

I had a similar experience. My payment was made in cash at a store and they still held it until I called and was told the system had no way to know if it was cash.

Do you believe they can't keep track of cash? She then transferred me to someone else who researched it "in another system" to see that it was cash and released the hold.Seems like they are trying to drive customers away. It's working with me! I rarely shop there because of the change in the discount policy.

I much preferred getting the 10% certificate after every $1000 to the 5% every day. If they make it impossible to use your card even after you pay it, you can't get the discount.

Target did not clearly explain there extended warranty.

A couple years ago I bought an ipod at a target store in St. Cloud, MN. I purchased the three year service plan with it in case anything happened. I am now having issues with said iPod and when i purchased it they did not tell me that I had to call or go online to turn on the service plan. Now that I am having problems with it they are telling me they can't do anything for me since i didn't register the service plan. So Target has now lost a customer for life. I will never bye from them again. Witch really sucks because i like a lot of there other products.

Alan C Xap

Either you have the plan with the sticker in it or you have the receipt. If you still have the receipt your plan is very valid.

You're covered for product failure, not any physical or liquid damage.

Registering the plan is BS. the receipt serves as legal proof.

Guest

Maybe you should have purchased Hooked on Phonics instead...less money spent and a good investment for your future when reading those darn receipts and manuals!

Guest

Shut the *** up. Target now has to read to you too?

Complete ***.

Guest

I have bought extended warranties and service plans from Costco, Best Buy, Apple, Staples etc. and they always explain the policy requirements so I don't have to read all the fine print. I believe Target is wrong in this case by not doing better customer service and to lose a customer over an ipod, shame on them.

Target's 90 day return policy

Purchased & shipped a $60 set of sheets for my daughter's brithday which was 70 days after purchase. Knowing of the 90 day return policy, I advised my daughter of that, but she was happy with them. Since she was building a new house & didn't need them, she did not open them until after the 90 days. Upon opening, she washed them & put them on the bed to find slits throughout the top sheet about every 8 inches, obviously had been cut with a box cutter. Store manager said he could make an exception to the rule if it were under $30, but not $60. So, we are stuck with defective sheets & Target does not care about customer relations!!!

Guest

To ? from bossier city, louisiana, US

So basically you taught your child to lie to get what they wanted.

You were angry because they expected you to follow the rules. When your child lies to you don't get angry at him or her they are just copying your behaviour.

They learned from mommy or daddy that lying to get what you want is how you go around getting your way. Also if something such as following policies makes you angry it makes me wonder if your child is safe in your home with the anger issues you have.

Guest

I bought my child a swim vest; when I used the swim vest it was defective. I tried to return the vest one day after I purchased it and they wouldn't give me a refund.

They said I had to return it to the company that made it since it was defective. I was PISSED so I just returned it to another Target and got my money back. I told the first Target it was defective but I didn't tell the second Target it was defective until they gave me my money back. Just buy another set of sheets and return the sheets that some employee damaged with your brand new receipt that's not over 90 days.

I really do love Target! Ia'm there twice a week just don't understand their return policy!!!!!

Patrick Nkk

anon

just shut the *** up already. you really don't have anything to say other than some long reply about how you hate Target. or a short reply because you forget what to say halfway through your typing. and blackdontcrack is MsLea pretending to be a victim of racism. so how are we similar? that's like me saying you're similar to BigBruce.

and MsLea, I'm a troll? yet you apparently go into Walmart and every local fast food joint daily to harass and criticize everyone you come across. but anyway, it really doesn't matter if there's imposters or not. mainly because your posts are made up stories. and by the way, I'm a he not a she.

and to the person from Michigan, you've got some good points. there are some good laughs on this site. a lot of laughs came from MsLea but she still keeps sticking to her fake stories. but then you have people like anonymous who always have a stick up their *** and probably literally too.

Guest

I'm not here for the defense of anon or MrsLea01 , I'm just stating facts. The majority of complaints on this board are legit although there are a few that are based on a persons inability to read the fine print or comprehend return policies.

That being said, my point is that I don't think a 12 year old has any place to judge a persons worth, whether they are a housewife or someone who eats at taco bell waaaay too much.

PS-Posting under someone elses name is a common practice (which even I have even done to add fuel to the thread because I'm bored) so don't act like like her accusations are completely out of place. You post another part to her story under her name (usually about beating her kid because of some infraction) and then respond to it as if she really wrote.

The hilarious part is when they actually do come back to defend themselves. The lesson in this rant is - post your complaint and then don't come back.

Guest

Well even if we are trolls you deserve to be trolled. All your reviews are bragging about treating retail and fast food workers like *** when you never had a job in your life.

You consider sitting on your fat *** all day and watching television being a "housewife". Again you can claim that Ihatedumbcustomers and I are using your username, but that is all circumstantial evidence. That just means you think we are guilty based on that evidence but have no proof. Yet when we claim that you are the same person who is making all those bogus reviews about racism you claim that we are wrong.

Why is it okay for you to make a claim like we are impersonating you and not us to claim that you and blackdontcrack are the same person? Do you get special treatment because of your husband's job. No you don't because to the rest of the world both you and him are nobody. Also when we find holes in your story you don't answer our questions.

Like how could you not know when the sale of the Patio set ended if your "husband" works at home office.

You either knew and could not get your fat butt off the couch and expected them to bend the rules for you because you are special and have a "husband" working at home office. Or you are lying and don't have a husband at all, and with your attitude I doubt you are married.

Target register prices higher than the label or shelf prices

I tried the new Target grocery and bought five assorted small items. Two of them rang up higher on the register than the price on the shelf and/of the item. One was a package of Kraft Single Cheese Slices (28411****) which had a $2.49 label on the item but a "temporary price reduction" to $2.25 on the shelf but rang up at $3.24! The other was a package of Quaker Instant Oatmeal (23114****) which had a shelf price of $3.99 but which rang up at $4.79! Both were corrected at the Guest Service counter but after waiting in line and for someone check the prices on the shelf. I think that 2 out of 5 incorrectly priced items is not a good percentage (40%) of errors. How many other items were incorrectly priced? How many people did not closely check their receipts for such mistakes?

:cry Its only 10 dollars..If your daughter isn't worth the extra 10 dollars next time go to a dollar store :cry

Guest

The sign was probably old and they were in the process of taking the old ones down. Was this on a Sunday?

That's when we take down the old ones and put up the new ones.. Maybe instead of just reading the prices pay attention to the item descriptions and the sale dates to make sure you are looking at the current information.

Ruined my little girls christmas!

My daughter's biggest wish is to have a barbie townhouse i looked every where and there where only a few stores left who have this thing i ordered one from "TARGET" they did not state it was on back order or out of stock until 2 weeks later when it's impossible to find my daughter another one. I recieve an email saying we cancelled your order and don't know when we will get anymore! When i called they told me well we recieved 6 and they went out randomly "sorry". If i had known from the beginning they were on back order i would had been searching elsewhere to me that is false advertisement and just plain "wrong"! All i get is a sorry!!Tell that to my 5yr old christmas morning!!!

This site is a joke. They allow cyber bullying, harassment, discrimination, impersonation, they ban those that stand up to rule breakers. Can't even follow their own rules.

Guest

P.S Just to show you how childish this person is, she changed her name from Wndy74 to Usuck. How childish is that.

We don't like her agreement so we suck. I wonder who the real five year old is, her or the daughter?

Guest

I have yet to see bystander post a rude comment, if you read the replies you would know that wndy74 is a child abuser and online bully. Just read the disgusting comments she has made to 12 year old boy.

I am glad I am not the only one who reported this to authorities. So unless you (the true meaning of Christma, Jesus Christ) is the OP, keep your mouth shut, PS don't use Jesus Christ as a user handle to post your sick comments or to post lies about others.

Target Return Policy Sucks.

Target Return Policy Sucks.
We bought a $70 stoller from the website. We never used it and decided to return it to the store. They wouldn't let us return the brand new stroller on the box because the return policy cuts off returns right at $70. So we got stuck with selling the stroller ourselves (for less of course), and after I wrote a colorful email to customer service, they thanked me for my input and brushed it off. I wrote another one, hoping to get more than the trained, automated response. No go. My advice? Don't buy anything from Target over $70 unless you KNOW you want to keep it.

You most likely paid by credit card, therefore you can return it by looking it up through your credit card, or you can log onto your online account and print out a receipt. I dont know why this option wasn't offered to you.

And even if these options aren't available to you, you are allowed to do an exchange on your license since the limit for a gift card is 70. Above 70 you are able to exchange for like items. so if you wanted to you could exchange it for other items that you most likely would have bought that day.

So, were these options given to you?

You claim that you posted the information from your driver's license how do we know that that information is not false. How do we know that you did not make up that information.

Trevor stood up for you when everyone was attacking you and accusing you of being the one impersonating other people, and you accuse him of impersonating being MIHYFS(when you admited you created that name yourself). This proves you are just posting to get a reaction to people and instead of stooping to your childish level and attacking you Trevor gave a mature response which you have yet to do.

I guess it comes from your parents using the internet as a babysitter. You don't get attention at home so you try to get attention here.

You have a point, however I could be asking you the same thing. There is no way to know for sure if it is you making posts under all those other personalities, or if it was me or someone else.

It could be me, it could be you it could be anyone. However I have noticed this going on for a while. You are not the only victim of people posting under your username. They had the same problem for complaintsboard.com.

They still have the same problem for planetfeedback. The only site where you cannot post as another username is my3cents.com.

That is simply not true. I have repeatedly asked the OP to return to this threads topic.

What is also true is that I’ve supplied alternatives to the prevailing fashion of bashing the TMs and Target Corporation for minor mistakes made by careless guests in the store or using the on-line service. Unfortunately, these are likely lost in the noise as the majority of posts (including yours) focus on bashing the messenger!

Do not get involved policy

I was shopping at target last night and as I was walking out, a man proceeded to assault two women in the parking lot. As I started to walk towards them and yell for him to stop it, the man started to walk in to the store calmly and proceed with his shopping. One of the women walked in to the store and called for help of the associates, a manager arrived and said that it is their policy not to get involved. The police was called, complaint was filed. Target's polysy is not to get involved in insuring their customers safety! So be aware customers, if you are getting mugged, raped, assaulted or murdered in the parking lot of the target, do not bother to call for help because your safety is not their concern. I would not be surprised if they just stand there and watch.

Marina Ego

No, actually, the assaulted woman called the police, target refused to do that much.

smedrik

Target employees are not trained to diffuse situations and apprehend people, that is what the police is for. Target handled the situation perfectly, called the police and distanced from the situation.

Were you willing to apprehend the man? Essentially you are asking that equally uninvolved people put their safety at risk to do something you would not do yourself.

Guest

So let's say your son or daughter works for Target...there's a couple in the parking lot having a domestic dispute...do you want Target's policy to get in the middle of it? Doubt it.

Target is a retail chain, not a police dept.

Target return policy is so bad

We purchased a electronic game for our Grandson for Christmas at Target. Our Grandson already had the one we purchased. He and his mother went to exchange it for a different one. The Target Store manager said no. Why not,it is still wrapped and sealed in the original package and it even scans the bar codes from Target. The Target Manager, still said no. The Target Manager told my Grandson that he would have to give it to his Grandmother to take back, with her credit card. Well that seems simple enough, Not! We now have to box it up, ship it across the united states so that my Grandsons Grandmother can go back to the Target Store and get the right game and then ship it all the way back to my Grandson. My Grandson sent me a note. It simply said, "Grandma please do not buy me any more gifts from Target" I used to shop at Target a lot, Grandma

I did personelly insult the customer service desk persun by calling her muther a *** and her daughter a s1ut. I wusn't going to post the complaint until the store manager told me to leave and never come back.

I only used my grandson so that they would believe my story. I am so mad at Target because they called me an awful grandmother.

Guest

IT seems like Mamazane and the OP does not have the common sense that even four to six year old's have. No receipt equals no return.

What proof is there that the grandson did not steal the game?

Aeri.

they exchange it for the exact same product. The grandmother should have asked the parents what games her son had.

Guest

That's BS, every other store accepts returns if it's sealed merchandise that they sell. They won't refund cash without the receipt, but they will exchange the item.

If they sell the item, they can shelve it! I had a dress that didn't fit, when I went to return it WITH the gift receipt AND the regular receipt they refused.

Too much time had passed (2 months) not one other store has this extreme policy, they all would offer exchanges. Do not buy gifts at Target!

Guest

Beg to differ on the whole gift receipt, etc---other, competing merchants will accept exchanges, this is a VERY customer unfriendly policy. Not to mention, even if you DO have a gift receipt, Target will still only give you credit for the current selling price---any other merchant will give you credit for what was paid.

Personally, I don't even know WHY anyone shops at Target--their merchandise is cheap ***, their customer service is pathetic and their awful return policy seals the deal for me!

For those of you ready to insist how awesome they are: clothes are frequently cheaper, always better quality, in a more enoyable shopping environment and an awesome return policy at Kohl's. Walmart might be less enjoyable to shop in, but they have a more extensive selection for less, nicer cashiers and again, a great return policy---because they VALUE your business.

Lastly, if you live in the Pacific NW, you should shop at Fred Meyer over Target: better quality products, a vastly superior selection, great sales, amazing customer service, amazing rewards perks and, again, a customer friendly return policy.

Guest

Thanks so much for relating your bad experience at Target. They treated me like some kind of criminal when I tried to correct a bait and switch they perpetrated against me.

Please take your grandson's advise, please don't send anything from Target to him or anyone else. They are notorious for bad customer service.

Again, thanks for the warning. Many people will benefit from your experience.

Guest

Really? This is common sense dude. Gift Receipt.

Guest

Sorrry I agree with Grandma -- Target should have exchanged it.

Guest

If you had had the target receipt or gift receipt, you probably would have been just fine. Stores have to deal with people trying to return an item without a receipt that people may have bought from a different store or even stole!

Guest

Next time, ask Grandma to include a gift receipt in the package, "just in case!"

Registry, Online Orders, and Customer Service are Horrendous

I completed a baby registry at target.com and had a horrendous experience. I also registered at amazon.com and babiesrus.com and had a wonderful experience. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND REGISTERING AT TARGET FOR BABY OR WEDDING. When I went into the store, a target rep called the online department and said that there were computer glitches across the country that had been happening for 3 months. Needless to say gifts that people purchased for me never arrived, even though the online status said they had shipped. In one case someone bought me baby blankets and they said on the phone that they were shipped, but online it said that they were not. I never received them and after being on the phone (on hold for 30 minutes) with a customer service representative said that there was nothing they could do. Also online, one item was listed as not shipped, yet I had received it. What a crock! It was their computer glitches that caused this problem. They make tons in profit. Horrible customer service, disorganized, and completely unhelpful, I will NEVER ORDER ONLINE FROM TARGET AGAIN.

What has happened to Target.com???? Orders not being shipped, canned responses, computer problems, so sorry, don't know when you might expect your orders to ship, don't know what we are doing to fix these problems.

I am so sad b/c I love Target merchandise but have totally lost confidence in them. Ugh!

I've had the same problem!!! I'm disgusted with them.

Do Not Shop at Target

I made a purchase on 1/17/11. On 1/19/11 I returned the item with the receipt. I have never received my credit. I have called several times, I went into the store and the "manager" filled out some form. It has been over a week and still no refund. It is only $24.86, so it's not that much. When I call there, the "manager" is not in. It is always her day off--no matter which day I call. Target will lose alot more business than that, I will not shop there again. I will go to Walmart or Kmart, at least there I might get some customer service.

You're so ***. If you own a business and it's just 25$, why don't you invest a bit more time in your work than calling Target everyday for a week.

You might have made more money working than complaining to people who just really don't care. I wouldn't want to deal with you either, they deal with people like you all day, you know?

I'd cringed hearing your annoying voice all day too. :]

I work for target. This is an unusual situation your credit should have been received in about 48 hours.

If not File a dispute with your card company, this is the new way we are handling return errors. I have called corp about this before and they say the error usually happens in the transaction between the card company and us. So filling a dispute will clear the issue up right a way.

I certainly hope targetshoppersSUCK's etl is dealing with his bad attitude. He was right in one reguard we are not able to handle this at the store level. So please call the card company this should be resolved quickly

You do deserve your credit. I have always liked Target but after getting harassed over an even exchange last night, I am no longer in that group.

I hate Wal-Mart too, but I'll be taking my business there from now on. I hope you end up getting your refund.

nerdinigler, I have not called them 24/7 or harrassed them in any way. If you read my post this has been going on over a 7 week period. It is not the matter of $25--it is the principle that I had the receipt, I made the return and I am entitled to my credit.

To targetshopperssuck, if you hate your job so much you should find another job. it is employees like you with such bad attitudes that makes Target's customer service SUCK.

I am a business owner, in the customer service industry and an happy that my employees don't have your attitude. I did contact my credit card company and the told me I had to go back to the store since I had both receipts.

You really need to remember the #1 rule of customer service--The customer is always right and that one happy customer tells NO ONE, one unhappy customer tells EVERYONE!! I am a person of high principles and you don't have to worry about seeing me in another Target!

I work at Target and people like you are the reason I hate my job besides the fact the company sucks. But do all us Target people a favor and take your business somewhere else so we dont have to deal with your *** anymore, im sure walmart will give great customer service.

Half the time you people come up to guest service throw a fit like a *** five year old tell us "I AM NEVER SHOPPING HERE AGAIN!!!!!" then walk out the door, turn around, go into the store and go shopping. It makes you looks like an *** and didn't get you any futher, and guess what you still gave us your business anyway.

Call the credit card company and complain to them it isn't a store level issue, then get over yourself and never shop at Target again PLEASE! They will do just fine with out your business :(

Worst retail experience I have ever had.

I won't bore any one with unnecessary vitriol. I will just say that I placed an order via Target.com, and after being notified that my order was "delayed", I decided to cancel it, as it was a gift, and I imagined it wouldn't be delivered in time. The email I received included a link and indicated I would be able to cancel my order. I was surprised to find no option to do so on the order page, so I decided to call Target.com instead. Long story short, I called, emailed, and responded to multiple people who insisted to me that despite my items not having been shipped yet, I would not be able to cancel my order after all. I was told several times that nobody was able to contact the shipping department, so they could not cancel my order. As it stands now, Target.com has charged my credit card, and appears to have no intention of resolving this matter, including refunding me, or shipping my order.

So you ordered an item that said "out of stock" (and yes it said that you just and *** and didn't look). What that does is send it directly to the manufacture and they fill the order. So next time look before you order.

Pre Order Game

I will never buy from target again. I reserved a copy of mortal kombat tournament edition over 2 weeks ago. Now, TODAY, target figures out that they are out of stock on my preorder. This item comes out TOMORROW. They had a limited amount of this item and they purposely sold more then they had. Any other business is careful not to do this. It took them over two weeks to figure out they did not have enough of this item to fill my order. This is not just failing to meet expectations, this is flat out unacceptable. Target lacks integrity.

Target did the same to me. My PS3 MK TE was changed this morning too.

They actually had the balss to tell me that the item was simply delayed, and would ship to me by June 1st, if I accepted the change,. Where were they going to pull more copies out off? Luckily I live right next to a Fry's, and was able to get there at 8 AM, and score one of the few copies they got.

For those of you that said pick it up at Wal Mart, see the information on the Tournamnet Edition. It is not sold in Wal Mart (or Target) stores.

You could have went to Wal-Mart and bought the game at midnight. No pre-order necessary.
