Black Friday Bummer Because Bad Management

While Target's "crowd manangement" was great gettin cutomers in, we were held captive in the electronics line. First we had to get in line to "hold" an ipod touch (5 minutes after we learned that was step 1). Next we were forced to wait in line the electronics line for 1 1/2 hours to pay because they only 2 cash registers!! There was "help" all over the place, but really...2 cash registers? Our other group was out the door in 15 minutes because they got to go through the regular check-out. It was really a bummer to lose over an hour captive because of a long line and slow because of only 2 cash registers. Good planning Target!!! They get a 5 stars bullseye getting customers in and a negative 3 stars becasue they missed the mark serving electronic customers.

What kills me about this is that I bought my (broken) 40" LCD HDTV in regular checkout and had to check out wii games in the back.

Deat

I had a bad experience at the Poway, CA Walmart store, so I went to the Poway Target about 1/2 hour after it opened at midnight. The sales associates were courteous and helpful and I found similar items at the same Walmart prices.

I agree that I had to wait a long time at the electronic register, but then a manager came and got several of us. She took us to the registers at the front of the store.

This sped up the line a lot. I know we had to wait, but at least we got the items we went for, unlike Walmart.

Guest

There is only room for two registers at electronics.. it's not really made for people checking out all of their purchases there.

We cannot turn them away if they do have a cart full of items and want to pay all at once.

-Of course you are going to have to pay for pricey electronics items there, so asset protection team members can keep an eye on everyone. It is also Target policy to pay for all locked up items in electronics.

-If you're a regular black friday shopper, you should know that there is going to be a wait. It's a crazy day and everyone is in the same boat as you.

TimThomas

Saying only uneducated people work for Target is false. A guy who has a degree in chemical engineering who graduated with me is still working at target 4 years after graduating, watch the news people who are educated are taking anything they can get in some cases due to the down economy. And it was all over the news that all the companies that opened at midnight were mandating employees be there at risk of losing their job.

John N Mzy

The bottom line is that if you work for Target and you did not want to work Thanksgiving day, then tell Target management that. You will NOT be forced to work.

All you have to do is either work when you are told or find another job. It's not as if working for Target is a career move.

Only the laziest of uneducated, unqualified people would complain because their employer wanted them to actually work. What a bunch of dopes!!

Guest

They made people check out in electronics to try and minimize the risk of the ipoops walking out of the store unpaid for.

Guest

Just think of all the workers that had to miss part of Thanksgiving to be there to sell your whiny *** an iPod touch that you probably could've waited a few days to purchase anyway. But instead you had to have it on Thanksgiving. Stop complaining and think about the workers there to serve your pathetic *** on this holiday.

Poor Customer Service

I created a Target account in a Snellville GA Target store today because I had received an email offering 10.00 gift card if I spent over $50.00. I tried to print the coupon before going to store and kept getting an error message "unable to connect." I printed the entire email, went to the store, spent over $120.00 and they would not give me the $10.00 discount. They told me to download the Target App - which I stood and did and created an account, only to be told - the coupons would not be on the app! Now, I get home and have an email welcoming me to Target.com and try to click on the "view your account" button, only to find it says safari cannot open!!!!! RIDICULOUS, and very poor customer service!!!!! I have always been a loyal Target customer and have found this new Target location in Snellville horribly stocked, and poor service!!! My loyalty to Target will not remain in Snellville, GA!!!!

TARGET in Homewood, IL never follows the coupon policy

I'm so sick of the managers making up their own rules at this Target in Homewood. Every week it's a new rule now you can only use one of the same coupons per transaction. Target policy clearly states one coupon per item. Also they continue to get "purchase" mixed up with "transaction" clearly these two words are not the same. They had the nerve to mention coupon fraud like if you check the dot scan number you will see they are not the same prints. I'm so sick of feeling like I'm doing something wrong because I use coupons at Target now. Target needs to educate their employees on coupons, and understand their are simple ways to prevent coupon fraud. Limiting someone to one per transaction is not the way. I don't have to shop and didn't feel I needed to give you all my money if your going to continue to act funny with me. I took my coupons, and went right to Jewel-Osco where I may have paid more but they were nice to me. If you like using coupons avoid the TARGET IN HOMEWOOD, IL GO TO THE STORE IN MATTESON OR CRESTWOOD EVEN TINLEY PARK. We don't have to deal with this our money as just as good as the people who choose to pay full price.

Wow this is so true! Target's in the Chicago area are THE WORST EVER when it comes to consumer's using coupons!

I recently was at Target in Schaumburg by Woodfield Mall on Higgins Rd. I was there on a Thursday evening. I do not live in this area but was visiting family. I tried purchasing 2 different products and had 2 coupons for each.

The cashier "didn't know if she could use ALL my coupons" so called a supervisor. Stephanie, an old woman who's the supervisor at this store, came to the counter and inspected my coupons and items. I asked what the problem is, I never have any issues with coupons. I also always use them correctly!

Stephanie told me that I couldn't get my second transaction because there is a limit. Well the coupons were for Sonicare PowerUp Toothbrush and the replacement heads, it did not state any limit! Plus I was only getting 2 of each! She would not let me make my second purchase for my mother who I was shopping for due to her disability!

I then left was walking towards exiting the store and decided to go back to the health section and get the toothbrushes my mother wanted thinking I would just check out in Pharmacy. I was almost done checking out when Stephanie appeared at the Pharmacy check out at the moment the cashier had my coupons in hand. She screamed at the cashier "she already used her 4 coupons today! She can't use any more coupons!".

Really? What a nut job! I got to my mother's house and checked over my receipt because it didn't seem right and guess what? Stephanie made such a HUGE deal out of using only 4 coupons and she charged me for 5 items instead of only the 4 I had!

This wench should be fired immediately!

I have never ever been treated so badly in a Target store! :(

Card cost more than the 5% discount

When I used this card, I got posted twice on my debit account. This was cleared up at my bank after filing a complaint with the bank.

Next time when they scan the item, I got charged twice for one item, left the store and noticed it when I got home. Between the employees scanning and not watching what they are doing and this debit card Target had it is more of a pain than the 5% discount.

This time it cost me more than the discount I got. Target used to be a good store...but I am trashing this card

You didnt notice in your purchase that you were being charged twice? Are you that irresponsible in your purchases that you do not monitor your purchase as it is being scanned looking for irregularities or pay attention to the total cost?

I would like to sell you a bridge in Cuba. I am sure you won't pay attention to the Cuba part.

DENIED SENIOR to purchase TV

My 92 year old mother needed to replace her TV. I drove 75 miles to her home to help. Drove her to the nearest TARGET store another 15 miles. We shopped in the appliance department until she found the TV she liked. After making arrangements with the store clerk she wanted to pay with her own personal check. After writing the check, the clerk advised my mother they couldn't accept her check because she never wrote a check in the store before. ????? Can you belive that one? I asked them to go ahead and call the bank and verify the check. The clerk advised me that the store policy was not to do that because of privacy issues????? We promptly left the store and went to Wall-Mart who happily accepted her check for her new 52" flat screen TV.

Personal checks ARE a proper form of payment.

Tasha you must have gotten a promotion to CEO of pissedconsumer.com for running down Wal-Mart since Target is one of your sponsors.

Guest

Since when did checks become unacceptable to pay bills?

Put yourself in school for not typing Wal-Mart correctly to

Your mother is pretty *** for a 92 year old. Why doesn't she know that a check isn't a "modern" way to pay for a purchase? Put that child in class for geezers.

Guest

Didn't your 92 year old mother know that checks are not legal forms of payment in America anymore? After all, at 92 she should have anticipated that they wouldn't take her check and used another form of payment. Checks for payment of commodities in a public store - what was she thinking?

Aaron C Img

Like Ninjaprincess said she was not denied she could've used another form of payment. Also it is "Wal-Mart" not "Wall-Mart". Learn how o spell if you wish to troll these boards making BOGUS complaints.

They did not deny your mother. she could of purchased it another way!

Free Shipping with $50.00 purchase or more

Target - Free Shipping with $50.00 purchase or more
While looking on line at Target.com, I found on their weekly ad furniture listings for a 6 drawer dresser for $119.00 and a night stand for $49.00. The add states: "Free Shipping when you spend $50.00". They charged me $78.00 for shipping and refuse to help because, it only applies to certain items (?) and not ours. On my "Shopping Cart" list I printed off, it doesn't state that - it states exactly (in bright red): "Free Shipping when you spend $50.00". Not very good customer relations. Will never shop there again or on line.

Actually, some items do state that due to their weight they have a separate handling fee so while Target doesn't charge for shipping of the item they do have to charge what they get charged for handling by the delivery service they use.

IndyMoparMan - Your experience with Target is very common. They use gimicks, lies and misrepresentations to sell their products and never stand behind the claims they initially make.

You would be well warned to stay away from the Target stores in general, on-line and bricks and mortar. They are all the same and have no concept of how to treat decent customers. In today's economy, we cannot be lured into shopping at stores that are not completely forthcoming when they have many, many other store who are happy to help and work with their customers to give them satisfaction. Customer relations is a joke at Target.

Your posting will make a lot of people aware of how Target takes advantage of shoppers and ward off potential problems that can be avoided at any other store. Thank you so much for your posting!

Target.com and help numbers are ridiculous!

I tried to place an order online and it kept refusing my Red Card number. I called and talked to 8 differen individuals and no one could help me. This took up 4 hours of my time. I have always loved to shop at Target. But, after this I'm not sure I'll ever go back to Target. Because no one would help me I was unable to purchase the Christmas present. All of the 8 people kept transferring my to someone else or I was cut off. I hope someone can make this right before I take my business elsewhere.

Target.com is a joke!

Placed order on black friday from target.com - 2 PS3 games and 3 dvds. After I placed the order I got my confirmation email and it said to call if you wanted to change the order. I decided to add an additional copy of one of the dvds so I called the # but they could not edit my order. After I didn't get my order I called the # again on 12/10/11 and was told it did not ship because my order was not taken off of edit mode from when I called and now the games were out of stock but they would ship the rest of my order and then the games when they became available. I called again today 12/19/11 since I still did not get my order and was told it was still on edit mode. Again one of the games was out of stock and they could ship my order but could not get me the game. I asked to talk to a supervisor since the game I purchased was orig. $59.99 and on sale for $37. The lady transferred me and upon talking to the supervisor she could not find my order, the other lady cancelled it. I was basically told they could not honor the prices from black Friday, even though I had my confirmation e-mail, but would send me a $10 gift card with my purchase. That doesn't even cover the difference of 1 dvd let alone the 2 games on sale for $37 each. I told them to cancel my order, that I was returning all of my previous purchases and would not be shopping at Target again, for which I did all of shopping, including groceries.

Target shipping policy sucks

Two weeks ago I placed an order for a Christmas gift. Twice since then I have received email notices that the shipping delivery date has been moved out.

Not wanting to risk being empty handed on the 25th, I ordered the item on another site, and called Target to cancel the order. I was told that, even though the item won't be delivered before the 27th of Dec, they are unable to cancel my order because it is in the shipping process. They advised I reject the delivery, and then my card will be credited back.

This is the second time I've had a bad experience with Target online.

Last year when I moved to a new apartment, a friend ordered a housewarming gift of a floor lamp.

Again, notices of delivery delays and finally *three months later* she was able to cancel the order. I had assumed that was a bad fluke, but now I know to never shop Target online.

I placed an order on Dec 1st, was just now notified one of the items was cancelled and the estimated delivery date for item 2 is Jan 10th!!! Called customer service and was asked to call back in 30 minutes ( its currently 12:30 am!) as their system is updating!

First and last time I will EVER order from them. Absolute BS.

Target - Spiteful towards its customers!

Target is a VERY, VERY spiteful company. If you purchase online and pay through paypal and you make a return, be advised that they WILL NOT credit back to your paypal account even if they verbally tell you they will. Instead, you will get a credit voucher. I plan to NEVER shop at a Target store again and I am pretty good at boycotting stores who abuse there customer's. Please join me by boycotting Target! Another thing that ticks me off with Target and most other companies is that they route customer service calls out of the USA to the Philippines.

Having never worked at Target myself, I can only speculate that maybe they cannot credit a paypal account, only debit. I have heard of other businesses having the same policy when it comes to paypal accounts, so there probably is a reason.

"I am pretty good at boycotting stores who abuse there customer's"

So what stores do you shop at? Any store you shop at I guarantee there are complaints about them "abusing their customers".

Guest

Oh yeah - one last tactic they use - someone will post as you trying to discredit whatever you posted. Since you posted as anonymous, it's very hard on them to pull this ruse, but they still might try.

Get ready, get ready ....

Guest

By the way, soon you will be criticized by the "attack dogs" of pissedconsumer.com. They will say you (1) are s tupid, (2) not an adult and will name some age usually 5-10 who needs parents to shop, (3) an embittered ex-employee, (4) ignorant, (5) a race, usually black, (6) a whiner and/or big baby, (7) a fu..ker, a bi..h, or something of that family, (8) law breaker and on and on. Get ready, 'cause they're on their way......

Mary S Eqg

I began using a new bank but still paying all my bills online through the bank's bill pay system. When I was at big bank, everything paid on time.

At new bank, everything paid late. So, my last Target bill.. WHERE I PAID OFF ENTIRE BALANCE showed a late fee and interest on THE AMOUNT I JUST PAID OFF. I called.

The late fee was $25 and the finance charges $5+. I told them what happened and asked that it be removed. All the other companies removed the fee. They said they would remove $12.

I went off. Seriously??? I just paid off the balance. So after dealing with this guy, I asked for a supervior.

He put me on hold. Came back and said they would remove all the fees.

Darn right you will! They are nasty!

Guest

I totally agree with you. I hate Target's practices.

Their employees are the most uncaring, nasty, smartmouthed employees I have ever encountered while shopping. Their corporate offices are the same caliber. They are cold and uncaring about their customers' concerns and complaints. They have absolutely no customer satisfaction goals.

While a human being can't say never, I certainly can say that I hope to never have to darken their doors again. I have been on a mission to have everyone I know and encounter boycott their stores. I relate my experiences about Target engaging in bait and switch with my purchase and ridiculing me for bringing it to their attention for an exchange. It absolutely is the worst shopping experience I have ever had in all my years of shopping.

Thank you for your posting, thank you for sharing your experiences and thank you for your boycott of their businesses.

I tell everyone here to beware of them. Once they get your money, it's theirs - ever if you have a problem and inferior products - you will never see that money again.

(Actually, I count you as a little fortunate that you were able to get a credit voucher from them. Most people get the shaft).

Do not use pay pal to purchase from target on-line

Purchased on-line using pay pal with promise of full refund for any reason. Returned to local store to find this is untrue. I was issued a gift card for >100- and not refunded my money. target is holding my money hostage and forcing me to spend it at target. I find this deceptive and unethical. If I'd known the risk of loosing my money I would have never made the purchase. Don't shop Target. Don't use Pay Pal if you are *** and do buy on line. I am very dissatisfied and very frustrated. I could certainly use my money (that target is holding) to buy something useful.

I just had the exact same experience last night! Target is a crook - Target is deceptive and unethical. If Id known the risk of loosing my money I would have never made the purchase.

Target - come on! If you've pissed off this many consumers, why don't you make it simple and STOP offering Pay Pal for your purchasing. That would make sense using logic and reason. That is, of course, unless you want to trick your consumers and hold their money hostage.

Shame on Target!

It's not always a matter of just changing channels. Target's adds almost always grate on my nerves.

Especially the ridiculous bra ones.

Target is not a bra fitting specialist, and these women on these adds make complete fools of themselves, and embarress the heck out of me.Now, in their catalogues, the size of the bra that particular model is wearing, is printed next to the photo! Where, pray tell, is the logic in that?

DVD

I recently purchased 2 dvds from Target on 6-9-2011 and I work in the mountains a lot so when I found out there is something wrong with them and yes I did open them up I went back down to Target as soon as I can. I was in the store for not less than a minute when Security came and I asked whats up they said it is Store Policy from the Store Manager that when someone comes in and questions the DVD's they have to be there. I simply stated that I came in here to get my money back which is only $40.00 for the dvd's they said no and said I had to keep the non-working dvds. They were not even going to exchange them for two new ones not even a gift card. So now I have two dvd's that don't work Customer Service number that I called said its because of the Copyright Laws. What are you talking about nobody is copying and DVD's here I just want two dvd's that work. Now I went and purchased the same dvd's at walmart and asked about there return policy and they said two things you need a receipt and within 90 days. My receipt is only 2 weeks old. So not only did Target humilate me in front of everybody, they called Security as soon as I mentioned the DVD's, refused to exchange the dvds sold me a product that does not work. Is that how Target does business by ripping people off? Call Security because they know they are selling broken stuff. I wonder if Universal Studios know about this or Sony DVD or dvd companies in general.

I guess what bothers me is that we have become such an electronics-obsessed society, we have to have the latest gadgetry, and a cold, heartless, impersonal, greedy store calls security when you complain about a DVD. God bless America!!

Yes, they probably thought you copied the DVDs and now wanted your money back so the content would end up being free.

Why security was called, I will never understand.

@Birdie: They are not Target's copyright laws. Perhaps the issue wasn't with Windows7,but with your hardware. Maybe not enough RAM on your computer or perhaps your processor isn't fast enough.

Guest

LR if your daughter works for target or any other store she must not do returns because she would know it is actually a copyright law and is generally written right under the item on the receipt.

Guest

After reading your complaint, I wanted to join this site to add that Target treated me very badly, also. I tried to return inferior cutlery I purchased that was hidden in the sealed portion of its attractive packaging.

The employees embarrased me so badly that I can personally relate to your experiences. Spread the word that Target is a large corporation that can be taken down just like many huge conglomerates have in the past. K-Mart was at one time a giant corporation, and now it hangs on by its fingertips.

Please let everyone you meet know how unfairly you were treated by these people. I know if enough of us get the word out, their cash flow will be negatively affected and they will have to start listening to the "little man' who is keeping them profitable.

Guest

My daughter works at target and that is not their policy. Don't know why your target did this.

Target should exchange them at the very least because it is a defective item, however it should not be refunded because of copyright law.

I get this at least 20 times a day. Everyone gets so offended that I need to check their license when purchasing an M rated game.

I'm not going to keep any of your information.. the stores are not tracking what you buy.. you're not going to get any unwanted phone calls or letters by me scanning the back of your license. Anyone buying a game with a rating of M needs to show some type of ID.

It doesn't matter if you're 16 or 60 - that's the policy. If you felt uncomfortable, you could have easily stated your date of birth &a manager on duty would have come over to verify that you are in fact over 17.

This policy is in place at several different stores.. so you better get used to it, or shop online.

I'll never understand why people write checks with their name and address on it, but get all paranoid about their I.D. that shows the same information + their D.O.B.

The only information that would've been lifted off of your I.D.

is your D.O.B.

That's it. Stop being the elderly paranoid complainer stereotype.

Target's and Walmart's participation in slander

I've been checking out the Walmart and Target complaints lately, and I've noticed that almost ALL of them have comments written right after, claiming to have been posted by the OP as an after thought. Now let me explain something I learned recently. Apparently, some companies will hire people to go online and say good things about them. You know, give positive reviews certain places, just hype them up in general". Usually, this is done under the guise of being a consumer|. These employees also defend the company to negative online posts,. After reading a bunch of legit complaints, followed by an "afterthought" comment of the "OP", saying things like really they were drunk so that's what they REMEMBER happening, or that really they were trying to scam Walmart, or that their daughter who was recently fired from Target was constantly late for work and sometimes did not show up and did not bother calling. but how could Walmart or Target know? I think it's pretty clear what is going on;. One of these online make-Walmart or Target -look-good people is pretending to be these posters and making up things to make their complaints look uncredible, and make the OPs look like fools;. I do not think this is ethical, or even legal,. I think it's rather disgusting and sneaky as well, and not the behavior of an honest company;. Take a look for yourself'. Someone even caught that happening, and wrote another comment saying the absurd one's weren't them, but the original post was.

OP, you can't ask people to stop posting because you're tired of the argument.

Don't start something you can't finish. And don't make claims that you can't back.

Honestly...

"Impersonation is illegal, identity theft, but face it you are not using your real name here, just some alias so they don't care."

To be identity theft you have to HAVE an identity to steal.

EVERYONE on here is posting on some level of anonymity - that's called the internet.

No laws were broken. You all are immature and this post isn't even a problem with Target.

They do not hire people to post online as it is completely untraceable. Not only that, but they hardly concern themselves with complaints of people on here because most of the complaints are completely ludicrous.

You all are acting like children. "Father of Triplets", you are attacking teenagers in a covert way like a high schooler. The others that are posting personal insults are almost as bad.

Everyone - grow up!

Quite to the contrary, I believe laws are being broken here. It is time for investigating the rules of this site and the laws covering them. I have no intention of dealing with the "kids" because I believe this deception runs far deeper than its employee/posters.

Don't think so, and don't believe it. Further, misrepresenting this website is cause to shut it down.

I believe your assumption is correct, but I do believe it is more incidious than you suspect. Please refer to my comments on "Walmart's Participation in Slander".

I believe that this artificial contraversy is instigated by pissedconsumer.com itself. I have yet to see any genuine moderator or inspector review these sites and intervene into the slanderous statements made by these "children".

It is becoming apparent that at least some of these 13 and 14 year olds are employed by a company in the interest of creating artificial contraversy in an effort to keep this site vital. I believe like you that these matters should be investigated by some legal authority as it is not being run as it is represented.

Didn't you just slander both companies? There is no way you know if that is true or not.

This post was not true when it was directed at Walmart alone and is still not true. No reality here, just ongoing blather.
