Received wrong cheaper item and they can't help

I ordered my daughter's school backpack on 8/6/13 and on 8/13/13 I received my package with a different, lower priced backpack. I called 3 times customer service reps and a supervisor were unhelpful. The backpack is sold online only, and now my daughter is starting school this week without her backpack. They advised me one alternative was to ship the incorrect backpack and when it arrives they would ship the correct one. I shouldn't have to wait 2 more weeks for the two way shipping process of exchange it online just because of a warehouse error. Plus, I work during the time the post office is open, I can't take time off work to fix a mess you made. I'm not trying to keep the item for free, I asked the supervisor to arrange for pickup and she said that wasn't possible. My only alternative, according to the reps, was to just return the incorrect backpack to the store, but the backpack I received doesn't match the one in the receipt anyway and they can't issue a refund. I asked if I could get a refund for the price difference so I wouldn't be losing money due to returning the cheaper item at the store, and the answer was no as well. I'm very disappointed with Target customer service, plenty of other retailers such as Amazon and Macy's, for example, would have accepted responsibility and issued a replacement with expedited shipping and at least scheduled pickup for the incorrect item. I will never be ordering from Target.com again! I actually ordered the same backpack at Amazon, and even paid more for 2 day shipping, and will keep ordering from them instead in the future. Since they still haven't been able to fix this issue, I filed a complaint with the FTC with reference number 4764****.

Was next in line but when a new register was opened customers behind me got serviced first!

Several times when checking out I have been behind a customer who was having a problem, it could be a price check or opening a charge account etc. A Target employee (this has happened more than once) came around and told the people behind me to go to a newly opened register. I was left waiting at the first register and saw several of the customers who were behind me leave the store! When I spoke to the Target representative he said that your policy was to open a register if there were three people in line. Great but that does not mean that the next person in line still needs to wait while the others are taken care of first!

Target lines are terrible. I have often just left the store without buying my stuff because I am not going to wait 20 additional minutes at the check out counter.

Holidays maybe but not a regular day of the week always UNDERSTAFFED.

Guest

Well what did you want them to do, anonymous? You were the one who didn't go when called.

Guest

Wow! :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry

Courtnie Vei

Whenever they open a new register they usually just call out "I can help someone here" or something like that. I doubt the cahier chose specific people to help.

Everytime I see that situation, the people in back always rush over first because they are closest. You need to step up your game and be quicker than them!

Anyway, what did you lose? Five minutes?

Guest

If you aren't smart enough to go to a line that isn't as busy, you have a major problem. Did the employee tell you that you had to stay where you were.

However, when people change lanes, it stands to reason that the last person in the line would go first, which means if you had followed, you would have been last in line. Grow up!

FALSE ADVERTISING

as a "valued" red care member of close to 9 years Target sent me this coupon in the mail for use in their STORE or at target.com. I walked into the Fort Lauderdale Target store on the corner of US1 and Oakland Park Blvd, phone number 954.390.7992 on 6/14/2013, and spoke to customer service team member Camille. I asked her if i could use this coupon on my purchase from the seasonal dept on beach ...chairs. She responded that I could. I proceeded to shop, fill my rx's (which i have been doing at this location for 9 years). After i completed my transaction i returned to the customer service desk to check out with my season purchase of lawn chairs. At time of check out Camille now changes her mind and says that my coupon cannot be honored. She asks associate team member Alex (female) for assistance who also states the coupon will not be honored. Even after reiterating that this coupon is valid for seasonal merchandise they refuse to honor the coupon even though their associate lied and said it would be. At this point GSA Ashley comes and also refuses to honor their error. At this point store manager Sandra comes and does not even attempt to make a resolution and simply, and short, says "nope". At this point i inform her that i have been a red card member and that i have filled all my rx's at this store for the past 9 years, that they have clearly made thousands of dollars on my patronage and if they do not rectify the situation i would take all of my future business else where. Sandra's response was "ok", at this time I advised her she needed to escort me to the pharmacy to inform them why i would be leaving them for my rx's, she walked me over and said close his account and to transfer my rx's whereever i would like them. The pharmacy staff, which by the way is amazing, was shocked and sad to see my go over $10 that was a store error. After this i called guest relations at 800.440.0680 and spoke to Luis. After a lengthy discussion with Luis he acknowldged and error was made at the store and he gave me a reference number and advised me to return to the store and give them the reference number and they would rectify the situation. When i returned to the store and provided my reference number they claimed that Luis put in his notes that the coupon is valid only at target.com. Please see attached image and read the coupon and agree that this coupon clearly states valid at Target OR target.com. At this point Sandra became a coward and refused to return to the service desk to assist me, and sent another manager in her place. This manager was more sympathetic to the situation, but non the less just as unwiling to rectify the situation. I have attempted to contat guest relations on numerous attempts to allow them to make good but every time i call i get the run around and get conveniently disconnected and guest relations states they are unable to take my phone number incase of a disconnect to return the call. This has to be one of the most pathetic companies with any customer service skills i have ever encountered. PLEASE LIKE AND FORWARD THIS POST TO ALL YOU KNOW TO LET EVERYONE KNOW HOW POOR TARGET'S CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AND HOW VALUED THEIR CUSTOMERS ARE TO THEM. CLEARLY THEIR COMMON SENSE IS LACKING THAT THEY ARE WILLING TO GIVE UP A "VALUED" CUSTOMER OVER $10. PLEASE ALSO NOTE THAT ALTHOUGH WHEN YOU CALL GUEST RELATIONS THEY STATE THE CALLS ARE ALL MONITORED AND RECORDED, IF THIS IS TRUE PLEASE GO BACK TO THE CALL LOG ON 6/14/2013 AND LISTEN TO THE CALL MADE AT 11:31AM EST WITH REP LUIS TO VERIFY EVERYTHING I SAID IS IN FACT TRUTH AND THAT TARGET LIES AND HAS NO VALUE IN THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I PRINTED A COUPON ON TARGET.COM FOR IN STORE USE & THEY REFUSED TO HONOR IT. IN WISCONSIN THIS PRACTICE IS DECEPTIVE ADVERTISING & IS A VIOLATION OF STATE LAW.

I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE STATE OF WISCONSIN & DO NOT INTEND TO EVER ENTER A TARGET STORE EVER AGAIN.

THE STATEMENT ABOUT SCAMS WHICH IS POSTED IS OBVIOUSLY FROM A TARGET EMPLOYEE - TARGET IS WELL AWARE THEY ARE ENGAGING IN DECEPTIVE ADVERTISING & MUST BE BETTING THEY WILL GET AWAY WITH IT!

Guest

I'm still looking for an example of false advertising. Your title is as misleading as you probably were when you called and tried to mislead the employees into giving you $10 off.

Why in the *** else would you call and ask if you can use a coupon that you seem so certain is a valid coupon. This is actually a scam growing in popularity. Call the store. Get permission to use a coupon from a manager.

Show up with an invalid coupon.

Throw a fit saying, "You lied to me." I wouldn't want your business either. :cry

Target had a floor steamer advertised on their website at 50% off regular price, only available at local stores. called my local store, had it in stock but according to Target's rep, it's a full price and they don't match price during the holidays. I reminded her that it's advertised right in target.com, they don't have to match a competitor's price and she replied that at this time of the year, all stores have different prices and are not obligated to sell at their advertised price.

Talking about BS artist!!!!!!!!!!!

Guest

Wow. You are a huge baby.

You've been visiting this store for 9 years and the first time an employee makes an error, it's adios Target.

It's 10 freaking dollars. Move on with your life you drama queen.

So let me get this straight, if you had a perfectly valid $10 off coupon that the store was declining for no reason even after customer service told you it was a mistake you'd be just fine with that? Right. :roll :roll

Sara L Xph

Copy and paste this whole complaint on their Facebook page. I've said it before here, it's one of the best ways to get resolution with some companies these days.

Last complaint on Target's Facebook I posted resulted in a response in a few hours. Good Luck

Don't register for weddings/baby showers/diaper party's

We registered for our wedding, baby showers/diaper party's. When we went to exchange things, we were cut off at $70 and told we couldn't return any more items without receipt. I guess we should have reminded people that it was Target and they should put the receipt with the gifts. I don't know, it may be common... but wow, what a way to treat people that registered with you for such special events. It seems like when people register and get multiple gifts from the lists, there could be a bit of understanding. I sent usually don't take the time to write stuff like this but we want people to know what to expect from Target.

Target is the most horrible store I have ever dealt with. They REFUSE to give you any assistance if you encounter a problem.

Their corporate/company policy is to embarrass the customer.

They will never get another penny from me again either.

There are too many other places where shopping is a pleasure. It's simple, if a store won't stand behind it's customers and sales, customers and sales won't continue there!

Guest

Target's "customer service" is pretty much nonexistent. I have spent over an hour of my time working my way through 6 different representatives only to be told over and over, very rudely, that there is nothing they can do.

I was told in store it would be no issue to call the 800 customer service line, and they would "easily" fix it, but instead they only made it worse.

What I don't understand is that they are losing out on potentially hundreds of dollars of registry items and even more since Christmas is right around the corner, over something that is easily a $20 fix on their part. I don't recommend registering with them for ANYTHING, and they won't get another dime from me personally...it isn't like they are the only option by far.

aww boo hoo, you couldn't exchange every gift that was bought for you by family and friends.

Don't blame target ARE YOU SERIOUS!! these people that comment are a true joke.

They just want to start nonsense. REGISTRIES are only benefiting the STORE YOU USE. I agree you should tell all THE PEOPLE THAT ATTENDED event THAT you NO LONGER LIKE TARGET JUST LIKE YOU DID FREE ADVERTISING FROM THEM in putting the *** little card in you invite.

TELL ALL THE PEOPLE just what you think of the PRACTICES. I hope these posters that like to attack others ARE MAKING THE BIG BUCKS TO SCREW SOCIETY!!

Guest

Instead of putting all the blame on Target, the people that bought the items should have taken the gift receipt that is always offered with the purchase, and then included that with the gift. There is a reason stores, including Target, offer gift receipts.

Target is the worst retail store in the business when it comes to Customer care and satisfaction.

They will not work with you if you have a problem.

You need to be wise and learn a bitter lesson from this experience.

NEVER shop at Target and warn others not to do so either.

If there ever is a problem, Target ends up with your money and you end up with a giant red and white TARGET on your back!

Horrible racist lady that works in customer service@***n center's target!

I bought a marked down shoe at target on 9/02/13 for$18. On 9/05/13, my sisters &I went back there to do some shopping & so we stopped by the shoe section. I tried looking for the shoe that I bought to see if they marked it down any lower & surprisingly they did! When my sister &I was ringing up, I asked the old Guy to see what's their policy about price matching & he told us too go to the customer service to go ask them. After he was done ringing us up, we went over & asked the African lady & she had to ask an Asian Guy to see if they could do the price match & he said yes but for us to bring in the shoe with the receipt tomorrow & they can do it for us. The African lady's name was Pam! The next day my sister &I went back there with the shoe & the receipt waiting in line cause Pam was helping another African lady out. Pam was talking so nice to her but when it came to us she was the total opposite! I explained the situation again to her cause she acted stupid like she didn't remember what she told us yesterday & she denied that she didn't say it & they couldn't do it! The so called store manager was next to her too & she asked the manager & she said no they couldn't do price match! I asked her can I refund it & buy it again? Guess what her response was, no! So I got irritated & asked can I just refund it & she said yes! I'm like dude that's basically the same thing! Target seriously need to improve their dumb customer service or else ain't nobody going to their store anymore. I was a loyal customer but after this incident, I won't be shopping at target anymore! What stores let you return sales items but won't let you repurchase it? I'm going to contact the district manager & make sure actions are done to this target on shingle creek in Brooklyn center!!!!! I repeat, I will no longer shop at target!

one shoe?

Sure they price match. That would be matching a competitors price.

What you should have asked is if they do price adjustments on previous purchases. If you had asked the proper question they would have said no. Why would they refund the difference between a pair of shoes purchased in season and a clearance price?

The reduced price is to move remaining inventory at the end of the season or when styles change. If you want to pay clearance prices wait till the end of the season.

Sara L Xph

First of all, no one believes you will never shop at Target again so stop trying to convince us of that gem. Second, your immature writing and insistence on categorizing the people you spoke to is a good way to ensure that NO ONE will take you seriously at all. So congrats, you just posted a poorly written, racist, complaint for no reason.

Couldn't you have referred to the cashier as the cashier instead of the old Guy? Price matching means that you have found the same item for a lower price at a different store.

The way you have the word "to" spelled(too), means also. The lady at customer service wasn't an African lady, she might have been what is referred to as African American. If she had been plain African you would be complaining about not being able to understand her. Why do you keep capitalizing "Guy?" Do you honestly expect somebody working in customer service to remember that they spoke with WONDERFUL, PERFECT you, on the day before?

Consider all the people she has dealt with between the times you were there. Of course YOU can't refund it, you can return it and get a refund, but you can't refund it. The lady working customer service is not a "dude." What kind of actions do you want taken against that Target, and how do you plan on making sure they get done. IF you had been using the BRAIN that the good Lord gave you, you would have known that you could return the previously purchased shoes, and got the refund and then went back to the shoe department and bought the other pair.

I'm sure Target won't miss your business. Also did you only buy one shoe, instead of a pair?

Target Stores - Good Luck obtaining a duplicate receipt for a product warranty

I purchased a TV from Target about 6 months ago. The TV started to make some buzzing recently, so I contacted the manufacturer to review my options and warranty.

They opened a claim and asked me to get them a copy of the reciept. I dug through my information, however, I was not able to find it. I contacted the local Target store where I bought the item and they said to find out what day I purchased the item and they would be able to print a paper receipt on regular paper that the manufacturer can use. She indicated that the manufacturer will take these receipts for warranty work.

Later that week, I stopped into the local Target store and was told they can only go back 90 days. The person there gave me the 800 Customer Service number, which I called. The jist of the conversation was that once the transaction at the store is completed the receipts are sealed and there is "NO WAY" to get a duplicate receipt or a copy of the transaction that will satisfy what the manufacturer will accept. I do understand that it is my responsibility to keep the receipt and shame on me for intentionally losing it.

However, I can go to many other local chain stores and get receipts for up to 2 years after my transaction, like Menards (Hardware/lumber store). I even called our local Walmart and they said they could as well if we knew the exact date I purchased the item, which I do have. In any sense the canned responses I received from the Customer Service area was not very customer oriented.

For a company as large as Target, I have a hard time understanding how they could not help in this type of situation. I am sure this topic has come up before.

One can always re-print invoice if you have the invoice number with you. Just login to you Target account got to https://www.target.com/account/orders Click on any order that you might have placed sometime with Target. Click on View Receipts and Invoices Click on View Invoice Now check the URL in the browser it would be something like this https://www.target.com/account/orders/902194****960/invoices/414763**** Here comes the trick, now replace all the digits after invoices/ with the receipt number you have https://www.target.com/account/orders/902194****960/invoices/number to print> Now you can print the receipt the one you want to reprint.

Saturday I went to Target to buy a flip phone. The employee in electronics FORGOT to give me back by photo id.

When I called later and spoke with a person identified as a manager, Justin, I was told that they would have an employee leave my id with one of the librarians at the front deskat the Palm Desert library the next day. That never happened. Supposedly the manager above Justin, Casey, claims that no one was at the front counter and she put a blue stickie note on it and left it on the counter. The library manager has checked the security cameras and no one in a Target shirt left anything at the counter.

I am 70 years old and now have to try to get a replacement id without having a photo id. I spent 7 hrs on the internet and it's not possible to get an id without a photo id. I complained to the sheriff and the two employees are saying they were doing me a favor and left my id there. BS.

I was supposed to visit friends back east and now have to cancel my flight. You cannot fly, taken the train or Greyhound without an id. I also cannot enter the hospital without an id. etc.

etc. etc. I have gotten no response from Target. The length of time that my id was in someone else's hands with all my personal information leads me to believe that my identity has been compromised.

Because it appears that Casey either lost me photo id or gave it to someone.

How can someone who is a manager have such callous negligence to leave an Id unattended on a counter, if you believe her story, which the security videos do not support! Disgusted & Now A former Customer.

The Serramonte, Daly City managers continue to lie and say that the return policy was on the outside of the box. I have a photo of the outside of the box, with no such policy on it.

Target Corp. customer service made one call to the manager, who lied, and they believed...

Original review Sep 07, 2012
On 9/2/12 11:38am, I bought a queen Aerobed at Target, Ca for $216.00. When I opened it later that day for my guests to use, we found it covered with mold & unsafe for use. I took it back to Target for an exchange on 9/3/12, 11am. Please note this was less than 24 hours since I had purchased it! I asked for a replacement bed.The managers refused. I asked for a store credit or refund. The managers refused saying that on the INSIDE of box there's a statement saying to return directly to Aerobed. I pointed out that nowhere on the OUTSIDE of the box, or on the shelf, did it say the bed was not returnable or exchangeable so I had been mislead. I spoke with 2 store mgers: Melvin & Robert. Both managers were rude, refusing to give me their last names, or their employee id#s. They told me to call Target Corporate offices which I did, and of course Target Corporate was closed (it was Labor Day). At the suggestion of an off-duty police officer who overheard my situation, I called the Daly City police to assist me. The officer arrived and agreed that Target should clearly state their no return/exchange policy on the OUTSIDE of the box, but he wasn't able to convince Target to give me an exchange, credit or refund. The officer witnessed me leaving the bed at the Customer Service counter, since I have a bad back (the double height queen Aerobeds are heavy) & I refused to reintroduce anymore mold in my car! I have had headaches since opening that bed and hope I have not been contaminated with mold from a foreign country! I believe Target is not in compliance with California Civil Code Sec. 1723 and needs to rectify their mistakes immediately. Until then it's buyer beware!

BTW, while I was standing in line, I heard the customer service people refuse to exchange or give store credit on ANY cosmetic or personal product even those with receipts and in triple blister packages that clearly had never been opened. So exchanges are not that easy at Target anymore!

That was awful .. believe me I wouldn't have walked out without a refund ..those 2 Mangers should be fired or demoted and go for customer training again .. very sad you went through this .anytime we buy a high price item such as from Walmart we buy the extended warranty and we didn't ever have a problem returning item or item to company that offered Warranty..

Target shame on you and your managers ...

Guest

Funny thing. Here at the TARGET in Windsor Ct, I've returned any number of items such as printer cartridges, clothing and kitchen utensils for various reasons (non defective) and I've never had any dispute.

I've always been asked if there was a problem with the product and I've always replied that I either didn't need it or I've just changed my mind even after I've opened the packaging at home.

I've either been credited a refund directly to my debit card or been offered the cash. Never a problem!

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1133796

It's not a problem because you are lying to the customer service rep and essentially letting them sell a defective item.

Guest

Why didn't you just call Aerobed?? I can't believe you got the police involved in this!

Guest

This policy is clearly stated in the return policty which is on the back of the receipt and is signed in the store. It is a federal law.

Guest

Simple solution - use a credit card for the purchase and as the card company to intervene. They will probably reverse the charges.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-680587

And yes they do have the same policy, neither target or mallwart will accept returns or exchanges on the POS cheap airbeds they sell, since several years ago.

Walmart first changed the policy to one month from three, then to two weeks, then to "you open it, you own it". Not a surprise considering the trash quality of especially their store-brand examples and downmarket "special models" they have custom-made for their stores by otherwise reputable manufacturers (how do you think they get the prices so much lower than everyone else? By selling you the scaled-back otherwise-3rd-world-market-only version that looks mostly the same of course!). Nearly every example that I have ever encountered (MANY) has leaked within DAYS of the first use, let alone 3 months. Combine that with the calibur of customer all too often encountered at such retail hellboxes who often only need the thing for a one-weekend guest or camping trip or whatever and buy and return another one every time such a need arises whether it is defective or not (in the latter case along with the tent, lawn chairs, lantern, canteen, half-used water purification tablets and sunscreen etc) and it quickly becomes apparent that continuing to offer a category of product whose RMA rate likely results in a net loss over time and is futile for a retailer which exists to make money. It was either no returns or not carry them anymore, and they were a great seller after all if they didn't all come back they would actually make money rather than lose it, so their change of policy makes perfect sense.

They actually post this policy in the aisle where they sell airbeds in the few stores of either retailer I have been in that section of in recent years (few, thankfully), as well as behind the customer service counter AND on the back of the receipt. Much like they have done since changing their return policy on electronics from 90 days to either 15 days or 30 depending on the item, and have also done regarding accepting returns on seasonal items after the intended season or holiday decorations after the holiday. Too bad for the dishonest among us as they used to be a great free rental provider for the unwashed-est of the masses!

Now as to this complaint, I HIGHLY doubt that any airbed covered with (live, growing) mold came from this store the way the claimant is alleging. There is no way for the conditions to grow mold on the surface of the airbed inside it's packaging to occur in such a way that the outside packaging would not also be inundated, as all the other airbeds packaged within the same pallet would have to be as well. Moisture just happening to magically appear ALONG WITH NUTRIENTS on ONLY the inside of the packaging while shrink wrapped to a couple dozen other units of the same product and the wooden pallet Just does not happen, at least not to items made of PVC impregnated with copious amounts of anti-fungal agents, sorry.

What does happen is people using an airbed for a guest over a few days, covering it with all the assorted bacteria, fungual spores, dead skin cells and other substrate materials for a decomposer like mold/mildew to grow on, then stashing it in their mildewy garage or back patio or shed or other unsuitable storage place where it is constantly exposed to condensing moisture and/or rain for several months, causing the antifungals to break down and eventually for it to grow mold. This is discovered when guests are due, when the mistreated bag of PVC is brought up from steerage to be unrolled on deck, in the light of day for the first time since Christmas 2014.

Naturally, when this situation happens due to the negligence of one of the entitled class of selfish *** that are the reason American culture has fallen to it's current state, it is taken to be something that every other target customer and the manufacturer should pay for. So the abuser of said product goes to the same store, or the nearest big box that carries the same or a visually very similar (likely updated) product, picks up the same or closest airbed to the one they ruined, takes it home and unpacks the new bed then crams the old POS they trashed through egregious improper storage into the miraculously clean, mold-free cardboard box (which, unlike freshly minted and treated PVC, IS a good food/substrate for mold and which would have been INUNDATED with spores from the mold growing inside, not to mention would have also had to pass such spores to the inside of the tightly folded item which would likely have been in an additional heat-sealed plastic bag through the couple of 5mm breather holes punched in it's side to keep it from distending the packaging during elevation changes) and tries to pass it off as the one they just bought the day before to the CS desk/returns people, who see this ALL THE TIME executed with varying degrees of effectiveness. Then of course when told they are not gonna get a free lunch they act all indignant. Despite the open box policy, I have had (the very same) target take back a similar bed in the last year when it was defective out of the box (dead embedded air pump). Considering that the evidence here all indicates an attempt to stick the store with your long-abused and trashed product, I'm glad they stood up for the rest of their customers whose prices rise when ppl like the poster of this complaint abuse permissive satisfaction guarantees and/or returns policies to essentially shoplift legally. BTW I bet the original poster didn't realize this but the store staff may well have - ALL inflatable airbeds are HEAVILY treated with anti-fungal agents before leaving the factory. These should last several years through standard consumer abuse (e.g. camping and putting it away damp etc.)... The fact that the (untreated) cardboard box was fine but the bed was full of mold - a product which should have been essentially sterile, devoid of bio-film from the harsh chemicals and conditions of the manufacturing process and thus devoid of nutrients PLUS impregnated with enough fungus-killing poison to inhibit mold for years unless abused horribly - is a dead giveaway, as is the fact that you went to such lengths as to call the police to the store (wasting their time and MY tax dollars, btw) and are posting on here, thinking it will cover your *** to be so indignant. You were and are overacting to the point I laughed out loud while reading your report.

Yes, I had used a credit card and immediately filed a complaint with my bank in writing. The bank withheld payment from Target for 45 days but gave them time to respond.

Target corporate responded to the bank saying that I had not returned the mattress, (inspite of the police report, photos, documentation, etc) so I had to work for weeks to untangle that! It was very difficult to resolve even when I finally got a woman in Target corporate customer service to help me... even once she issued a "credit", it took months for me to get it and then it turned out to be a partial store credit!!!! So Target really screwed me from start to finish.

I had all my documentation, a timeline, the police report, etc and threatened to go to Consumer watch groups and Target could've cared less. Don't be fooled into thinking that they are good about returns because they are not!

Refused to return an item

Prior to purchasing an item at customer service I asked whether the item could be returned. I was told that it could be returned with the receipt up to 90 days. I specifically purchased it at customer service instead of a register to verify return. When I tried to return the item I was told it was 1 of the items that can't be opened and be returned. That was the opposite of what I was told when I purchased the item. I asked for the manager who was a trainee and he would not return the item. The item was not acceptable and the screen was not a clear picture.I am not a regular customer of Target and will not purchase any other items from their store. I have purchased gift cards in the past for my clients and i will no longer do that

Target would rather pay a company than to satisfy as a customer.

Target is a horrible, horrible store and should be closed down.

Guest

this is the newest SCAM they are refusing to return defective merchandise. They are also hiring a NEW COMPANY TO monitor your RETURNS.

What a joke an entire company that is collecting your DATA AND GOING to determine if you ARE MAking TO MANY RETURNS. Well don't you think that should be BASED ON WHAT YOU HAVE THE ability to BUY.

Someone that ownes 4 houses may have more returns than someone living in an apartment!! buying in bulk not at TARGET!

Guest

Purchased a tv was told could return with in 90 days brought back to target in Marion Il, where purchased. Was told no refund must call Manufacturer, still waiting.

First mistake....talking to a manager in training.....go back and deal with the store manager

the store manager will not help you because they are usually even more strict with returning things... it will only disappoint you more...

usually the regular GSA or GSTL will try to override it if you are nice and kind...

if you are rude.... forget about it they will not even try to bend the rules..

Dispute with your credit card say the TV was defective and the store refused to return or exchange the item in accordance with their stated return policy...

Sweepstakes Survey From Receipt Scam

When you get a receipt from shopping in person at Target they say on the bottom you can win money by completing their online survey about your shopping experience. First of all, I've NEVER once heard of anyone winning this money!

Have you?? There needs to be an investigation into this and a verified winners list disclosed!

Secondly, my issue is that I went to the online site, entered all my information within 24 hours of shopping at the store, and the website told me I was not allowed to take the survey because my receipt was over 72 hours old! That was bs!

I had just shopped at Target the night before. I tried about 5 times to enter the code on the receipt, but each time it told me it had been over 72 hours since I shopped at Target. Lies! So I emailed customer service, and the lady sent me a scripted response that said I had to enter all the information off the receipt and hit submit.

Uh, hello?! Did you even read my email? You did not even address my problem! The problem was that AFTER I did all that and hit submit, I was told it was after 72 hours, when it had hardly been 24 hours!

I received another email that said I had to write all the information from the receipt onto a postcard and MAIL IT to target to enter the sweepstakes! WHAT?!! So now in addition to wasting my valuable time, you want me to PAY for a stamp and a postcard, and MAIL IT to target just to enter the sweepstakes that probably doesn't even really exist?? Are you crazy??

There's no way I'm paying money to send you a postcard! You need to fix the problem with your website! Clearly I should be able to enter the survey online since I was doing it the next night after shopping. The solution is NOT to make me pay money!

The solution is to fix your website, or send me a direct link to take the survey. But no, they would not actually take the time to fix the issue. They wanted ME to PAY to fix the problem! Take up my valuable time and resources just to enter their fake sweepstakes!

Unbelievable!! Target is a scam artist!

ha, you are such a ***. go ahead and lead the investigation sheriff craig. *** tool.

Target says that you can complete a 2 minute survey and win at the bottom of their receipts BUT I wasted valuable time trying to access their website and was unable to do so. They should not offer this unless they make the site easily available. Target fix the problem or remove the offer.

Why not get an adult to help you? Why should they deprive everyone just because you are not intelligent enough to do a simple survey?

Guest

I have tried for hours and hours and hours in the past month also to even get into the target survey site and it is impossible. Why can't I even access their survey site?????

Guest

The *** Target survey and all the pop up ads for non Target ***

Guest

I actually was an instant $25 gift card winner from a Target survey :) I was pretty shocked, as I have been doing the for years and never won. I received my gift card within about a week.

You can also view a complete list of winners on the website.

I think there are sooooo many people who enter the odds are probably very minimal of actually winning. But you can't win unless you try!!

Guest

Who makes a *** page over not getting into a sweepstakes? What the ***.

Guest

You need a life.

Guest

I'm not sure how you missed the piece on the receipt that clearly states the survey entry is only valid for 72 hours, but given your utterly infantile response, perhaps it's not all that hard to imagine.

Many sweepstakes have a mail in postcard entry as an alternative to purchase of the company's products.

Stores put an expiration on their surveys because past a certain point it becomes harder to accurately recall and evaluate an experience in store/ interactions with employees. Walmart's date is about a week from the visit, I believe.

Kindly grow up and learn to read fully the terms of a sweepstakes (or anything for that matter) before getting angry and throwing out wild accusations that something is "fake". I'm sure it will make you a much less stressful and annoying factor in the lives of those around you.

Free Nespresso samples

Target in Colma Daly City California was giving away free samples located before the checkout counters. I was standing in front waiting for my free sample. The worker handing out samples to his co-workers only when I asked for mine. He quickly added sorry we are out. I feel If you are handing these samples where customers can see you, therefore customers are more entitled to these rather than your co-workers. And if these samples were only intended to your employees Target Store keep it inside for your employees. I better complain and hope a lot of people see this.

I work for Target and I can agree that a lot of complaints here are vakid, but know that a lot of times when we get a new item in store we try it out ao that we're able to tell guests what the product is like, etc. We don't tend to ever give out free samples, just so you know.

Guest

Employees keeping all the FREE SAMPLES!! Employees cherry picking the products leaving them in the back room until they are 70% orr!! Wow SAME OLD TARGET!!

Guest

Lmao! Some people clearly have too much time on their hands to complain about this!

Guest

Maybe the product isn't good enough to share with the customers. And tried it on their employees first. :grin :grin :grin

Guest

LOL seriously? I feel sorry for anyone who has to deal with you on a regular basis if THIS gets you mad. "I didn't get something I had no expectations of getting until 2 minutes ago and feel like I am entitled to that something for free!" Kill yourself, for the good of humanity.

Guest

You're mad because you weren't given something for free? LOL, Talk about entitled.

You should sue Target for damages... :upset :upset

Target Pharmacy (Not in Stock - Phones Down - Incorrect Price)

Target has officially lost my pharmacy related business. I had an ear infection and had my doctor call in my prescription on a Friday. Target's phones were down and my doctor was gone for the weekend so I had to wait until Monday. Monday they were out of stock and said they will have stock on Tuesday. Tuesday they were still out of stock, so I transferred my prescription to CVS. The next complaint is for another drug which I had a discount on file for but they couldn't find and there lines are way to long. Very dissappointed.

How can you both blame a pharmacy when they did not have the drug you needed? They just could have used up the supply they had in stock.

Guest

That is terrible. I would have switched my prescription immediately upon hearing they do not have it.

Why wait at all!! I also would avoid at all cost THESE kinds of pharmacies they just do not have any kind of personal touch. and obviously uncaring.

an ear infection could get much worst and you could lose hearing. They also should have called your prescription over to another pharmacy and not even asked you to wait!!

Guest

Thats what happens when you go to a cheap pharmacy. I go to the one located in the doctors office building.

Its a bit more, but service is personal, and they always have had what we needed. Ive never had to resort to walgreens/walmart/target etc.

Read This befor Joining Lullaby or Wedding Club

Read this first before you purchase anything at Target. For all of you Lullaby and Wedding Club people, your right of return even for defective items will be limited because Target does NOT stand behind its merchandise. Here is what I learned when I purchased an item in furniture (an ottoman with a hinged top). The furniture item became defective after 3 months (the hinge failed). I tried to return the item at the store and was told that I could not return it because the receipt expired. Then, I was told a few things about Target's return policy that are NOT Published: (1) If a customer returns more than $70 in any given year, then Target can refuse to return the item, even with a receipt; (2) Receipts have an expiration date printed on the receipt (look for it next to the date of purchase). In general, the return period for anything is the earlier of the "return date" or 90 days. After that date, you will be treated as if you do not have a receipt at all; (3) Target will only allow you to "exchange" the item(s) for another item in the SAME Department - not the store at large! The “exchange” will be limited to $70 even if your receipt shows that your purchase was over $70, and (4) the store manager can allow you to exchange the item for items in another department, at the store manager's sole and exclusive discretion. Except for the 90 day policy and the "return by" date, none of the rules above appear on the Target website, the ticket, or are known by Customer Service. Now back to my situation... I told the manager of the Target store that I expect furniture items to last more than 90 days and that I expected Target to provide me with a return or a gift receipt. I was told that I could only exchange the item for another of equal value in the same department - not the store! I called a different Target store and was told that the Manager has the option to authorize an exchange in a different department, for example groceries. I checked the Target return policy on-line and also by calling customer service. The policy on-line does not cover this situation and customer service is staffed by automatons in the Philippines who are infuriatingly polite but are incapable of solving any problem that extends beyond their simple script. In my case, I went back to the store and spoke to another manager who pointed out that my receipt expired (I’ve never heard of such a thing) and said that it was like having no receipt at all. For the record, my receipt “expired” 3 weeks earlier, then the ottoman broke. The manager said that they would do me a favor. She told me that my only option was to exchange the item for which I paid $108 for $70 in groceries. It was a terrible deal, but I took it and lost $38 dollars – some favor! If Target has a “return-to-department-only policy”, then it should be published on its web site or on the back of the receipt. If Target allows its managers to exchange merchandise at the manager's sole discretion, then this should be published as well. If you are expected to lose money when Target’s merchandise breaks after 90 days, then this should be published on the web site. Word to the wise: If you believe that the items you purchase should have a shelf life longer than toilet paper, then don’t shop at Target.

Exactly! They won't honor a defective item.

You should be able to return defective item(s) and Target should deal with the manufacturer - they are the ones selling the merchandise and continue selling manufacturer's merchandise.

In the end, it all boils down to they offer poor, poor sucky customer service. NEVER again will purchase from Target.

Guest

"1) If a customer returns more than $70 in any given year, then Target can refuse to return the item, even with a receipt;"

That is not true. The $70 limit is only for returns without receipts. You cry over return limitations. Returns are a privilege, not a right. You're lucky they're willing to do anything for you if you don't have a receipt or past the return period.

"my receipt expired (I’ve never heard of such a thing)"

Well, just because you haven't heard of something doesn't mean it doesn't exist. You don't know everything. You're on here spewing *** about a manager that went out of his way and outside company policy to help you. You're a real class act.

Guest

Thank u for the warning. I don't want to purchase nothing from a place where it brakes and they won't help u.

Guest

No retailer will affect a return on an item after the posted return date has passed, which is what I assume you mean by "expired receipt". You yourself stated that the furniture item broke three weeks after the 90 day return policy. Go to the manufacturer, otherwise you gotta go with whatever the store management offers.

You are wrong, Anonymous in Houston. In case you didn't know, an ETHICAL company WILL return an item if it breaks, even after the expiration unless it is past a year or two warranty, which makes sense.

Ninety days does NOT make sense. You obviously have no idea what customer service and good-faith business dealings is all about.

You must work for Bank of America. LOL.

Target Bridal registry purchase

I went to the Target website to pick out a present for the daughter of my friend. I made a mistake and picked the wrong bride's name. Totally my fault - no doubt. I got home and talked to the mother of the bride realized my mistake and called Target customer service one hour after the on line purchase ($170.00) was made. I asked to cancel the order and was told by the first customer rep I spoke to that the Target policy was 30 minutes. I said that was ridiculous there was no possible way after only an hour from purchase this item was on its way. I asked to speak to a supervisor - was told no. I was so angry hung up called the mother of the bride and with her encouragement called back again within 10 minutes. Got a different rep - told him I was upset but certainly not at him - he just answered the phone. Told him my story and he said the same thing - 30 minutes to cancel. Asked to speak to a supervisor - said no. He said he could try to cancel the order but could not guarantee. With today's lightning fast communication I can't see how the order could not have been cancelled after only one hour. The order was shipped the next day and has already arrived at the wrong bride's location. Granted I picked the wrong bride but it isn't like I waited days to call I did it in a reasonable amount of time. Target does not provide customer service at all. So buyers beware when you are purchasing things on the internet exactly what the policies are. I made a very expensive mistake for me. Fortunately I don't make very many Target purchases and after this I will make none. So pay attention to the online purchase - cancellation - return policies - it will be worth the extra minute.

The problem is that people want things right this minute. So the stores have adapted and now have systems in place to get items sent out ASAP.

Because of this they can't always cancel an order once it has been placed.

If you had pulled up the right one in the first place there wouldn't have been a problem. Pretty stupid mistake on your part.

Horrible Customer Service

I went to the Target in South Gate, CA to purchase a Bialetti Moka Pot. So I go to the coffee section and wait for a employee to come and when one does I ask him for help but he just walks past me pretending to not notice me. This happens for a total of 3 times. I assume they were playing some joke on me by doing this. I left the store and bought the Moka Pot at amazon instead for 5 bucks less and free shipping. I'm never going to purchase anything from such a low quality service store.

Amazon is the best. Window shop other stores and buy from AMAZON prices are ALWAYS better. And if you do find it cheaper AMAZON will match prices with a PHONE CALL and usually even gives you it for 10% less!!

blame the employees not the entire store...
