Checkout headache

Went to a newly opened store and went to self checkout lanes after being told they had no attended checkout lanes open unless they were busier. Scanned my items and promotional coupon, couldn't find where the coupon should be inserted when it asked for that.

Employee couldn't find the place either but did walk off with my coupon. Went to pay only to learn that you can't pay with cash at self checkout.

(This information is not prominently displayed.) Went to a newly-opened attended checkout lane and when the items were scanned but for a different amount. How is this possible?

Target - Overcharged
I checked my purchased goods when I returned home today and found that I had been overcharged. I purchased 3 items worth $15 and was charged for 4. The cashier had entered the three items as 3 @$15 and then scanned one of them to create a fourth item. I do not live near the Target store or I would just pop back and complain but it is over an hour round trip. I am a retired person of very limited means and $15 is not an amount of money that I can afford to waste. Not Happy!!

Just contact the store and they'll fix it. Target has fixed errors like this in the past for myself.

Resolved: Never order furniture off of their website!

I just ordered a tv cabinet/stand about a week and a half ago and when it arrived (Tuesday) the box looked extremely damaged from the outside. When I opened the box all of the packing Styrofoam was broken into millions of tiny pieces and when I went to get the small package of hardware it was completely opened and empty. All the hardware had spilled out and was sprinkled throughout the box...or so I thought. I proceeded to try to fish out the hardware but soon realized that most pieces had escaped from the damaged box. I figured I could call and just get a new set of hardware sent to me. I continued pulling out the pieces of the unit only to find that the whole top was scratched due to the loose hardware rolling around in the box. It wasn't just a small scratch or 2 (which I would have ignored being that I just unpacked 75 lbs of pieces) it was awful! So now I call the # on the instruction manual that says "call for missing or damaged pieces" of which I had both. The man says they can send me hardware but they could only send the top in black....I ordered it in white!!!! He then connects me to the target.com customer service. I explain the issue to a woman and she says they can send me a new unit and arrange for the old unit to be picked up by UPS...great...the only problem is I was heading out of town for a few days (Wednesday-Saturday) so I asked if she could schedule all this for the following Monday? She said yes....but she lied!!! So the next day (Wednesday) while I'm away, UPS attempts to do a pickup. I'm on vacation so they leave a note. They come back the next day (Thursday) while I'm away and leave another note. At some point on Thursday afternoon a different UPS truck comes and delivers the new replacement tv stand. I had received an email so I expected it to be waiting for me when I returned on Saturday. But alas that would be too easy. Apparently the pickup UPS guy now tried back again the next day (Friday) and took the perfectly good tv stand away with him!!! I don't understand why this target woman would've spent all that time on the phone with me pretending to schedule a pick up/drop off for Monday when she was just going to dispatch someone the very next day! If she had said from the beginning that they were going to come the next day I would have left the damaged tv stand on the front porch. I really blame her for setting this whole disaster in motion. After 7 different phone calls and dealing with many more confused target employees I finally told them don't bother sending me a new one I just want to have the damaged one picked up and be done with this nightmare! Thankfully today someone took the damaged tv stand and hopefully I'll be getting my money back soon!

Today i was harshly insulted by a Target "register supervisor" he accused me of lying in front of customers and other employees. He raised his voice at me when i told him i felt disrepected by the way he attacked me. As i left the store he just laughed at my husband and i. I will not be returning to Target any time soon.

Good thing you won't be returning the management are boneheads. I was unfairly fired from Target because five different women came up with false accusations of sexual harassment.

Not that it would count if it actually happened since it happened in the break room while we were off the clock.

The bonehead manager(and they should never put women in management position) fired me because there were witnesses who were friends with the five women. The bonehead manager's name is Aisha and was transferred to a store 2 hours away from where I used to work.

If one of my family members were transgender I would disown them. If it were a parent I would emancipate myself, if it were a child I would disown him and cut him off my will and ban him from family functions.

Being transgender is just sick. Glad to be male. They are the stronger species and in most countries they are the boss. This is how things should be here in the USA.

I had a female boss at Target, like most women she was an airhead. She did not know anything, and I am sure she slept her way to the top. She fired me because five different women lied about me and said I sexually harassed them. Does not matter anyway if it happened or not.

It did not happen, but does not matter since all the supposed sexual harassment happened in the lunchroom. Ye

The fact is, Target supports perverts, and when this hits home, I'll be glad, I don't own any stock, in this company.

Target Debit Red Card doesn't process

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Updated by user Apr 11, 2016

Heard from Target store today. Wrote back, and waiting for resolution.

Original review Apr 10, 2016
Spent an hour at Target buying a cart full of groceries and household items. Went to check out using our Target Debit Card, and voila - system is down, cannot process. The whole point of getting the RedCard (debit) is being able to get the 5% discount. After an embarrassing moment in line (people assume you don't have the money in your account, which is NOT true), we ended up using another card and forfeiting our 5% discount. The customer service desk at Target was not helpful at all, and when we tried to call the 888 number on the card, it said they are experiencing system difficulties. What a waste of time.

Well they are having difficulties what do you want them to do? I wonder are you even old enough to have a red card?

How is it their fault if the system is down.

If you invited guests over for a party and the electricity went off would you be happy if they blamed you for throwing a bad party and not making the electricity come back? I bet you would do the same to a host if their power went down.

Target Red card Harrassment made me an ex customer

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I was a Target customer for over twenty years, but then a year ago that changed. I use to go to target at least twice a week and spend several hundred dollars a week there.

but everytime i would check out the clerks would get more and more agressive about pushing me to get a red card. The last time I wound up in a shouting match with the clerk and I said to myself, "I don't need thisz, life is too short I'm giving them my money and they are treating me like ***.'

I walked out of there and have not ever been back to any target store nor will i ever. Thank you Target for saving me hundreds if not thousands of dollars by making me an Amazon customer.

I was a Target Employee who was counseled for not being aggressive enough for pushing Red Card and Target Red. I would look into the faces of those people over and over everyday and see the damage it was doing to their loyalty to the store.

Even if all the customer was buying was a package of gum, I was told to push Red Card. The employees are told this will show up on their evaluations and could actually lead to dismissal if continued unsatisfactory compliance is observed.

So employees push Red Card out of job security needs. They actually have store monitors walking around observing their employees for unsatisfactory compliance.

Guest

I used to work for Target and I quit mainly because of having to harass guests with the *** red card. We're supposed to treat guests with how we want to be treated and step one is not to harass guests with these *** red cards!

Guest

This person should not be worried about losing their job because you throw temper tantrums. They have to or they get into trouble.

MrSharkNasty

The problem is Target and it's management. Management does it to pad their bonuses.

Target does it to increase their sales and does not understand what's really happening at a store level. They treat their workers very poorly and get on them hard about pushing Red Card sales. They will down right bully them until they quit or get more cards.

No means no, the problem is the cashiers are not allowed to take no for an answers so you get harassed and they get harassed if they don't sell any. The one thing while working at Target I never understood was how clueless management was that this methodology created a poor working environment and just rubbed customers the wrong way.

Elize Qal
reply icon Replying to comment of MrSharkNasty

I am wondering if this is also the reason why stores push the cashiers to ask their customers if they want to donate to a specific charity that Corporate chose.

Guest

Stores need to stop pushing their credit cards on people. Yes they may save the store money, but store cards have higher interest rates than a bank card and consumers don't need that. I wouldn't touch a red card with Target's lack of concern for security.

Guest

we are required to ask people to get redcards because management gets on our *** about it if we dont- its not the cashiers fault.

STAY Away from Red Card!

Of course Target doesn't allow reviews on their main Facebook, it would be all negative. Their customer service is simply just lie after lie after waste of time after waste of time. From $1000 a month spent there to $0. No wonder @wal-mart is so much better. Sign up for the Red Card, never get the card, listen to their representatives, call 2 months later, hear another lie and find out they didn't close your account like you wanted, instead they charged a late fee for an account you were told was closed.. Totally worth $62 to never have to deal with Target again.

Target Store and Alcohol

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I bought a 6 pack of beer at Target tonight. I was there with my 2 teenagers.

My daughter, who is 13, was unloading the cart for me while I went up to the debit machine. The cashier threw a fit because my daughter picked the 6 pack out of the cart and put it on the counter. The cashier told her not to touch it! I looked at the cashier and said she is just getting it out of the cart for me.

She then had the nerve to ask if I was buying it for my daughter. Um, no....Im buying it for me! She then said the cameras are on and kids can't touch beer.

What?! My kid can't take the beer out of the cart for me, really!?

Preferred solution: Talk with cashiers about how to handle alcohol sales better. I dont mind my kid taking the beer out of the cart for me. I was present during the sale, I am 35 years old and had proper ID. I was purchasing the item myself.

I had a cashier ask for my sons ID while I was buying beer and she was refusing to sell it to me , because he was 19 at the time , I then said if I had my 2 year old with me would you sell it to me , she said yes , I said don't you see the problem here.

I then asked for a manager , I explained to him I was buying it for myself ,I said you are welcome to come and watch me drink it as well, but I think they are taking this way to far. I was a stock boy when I was 16 and we were allowed to stock beer in the market , we were not allowed to sell it.

MrSharkNasty

I've done some more googling! Sure wish I could post links.

Anyways you can google yourself and find this information. This is regarding Walmart and a similar situation. "It’s something Walmart’s spokesperson denies. The spokesperson says if this did happen: “That would be wrong, and that would be incorrect.” “We specifically don’t have a policy to ID minors, because they are not the ones buying the alcohol.

It’s the adults. We have the policy, or course, to ID the adults,” the spokesperson said. It's 100% acceptable when with a parent a minor can touch the alcohol! They can put it on the belt!

They can bag it! They can even swipe the card!

No law saying other wise. Only ignorant cashiers who don't care to study the exact context of the law.

MrSharkNasty

If you google "is it against the law for a minor to touch alcohol" you will also find lawyers suggesting that the law wouldn't waste their time with such a case.

MrSharkNasty

These laws being thrown around below are not being portrayed in an accurate manner. There is no law saying a minor can't touch alcohol!

They can't scan it, can't buy it, or consume it! It also depends on the state your in. In Wisconsin minors are allowed to consume alcohol in a public setting as long as their parent approves it. Google it I can't link website on here sadly but this is what the law is for Wisconsin (Can an underage person possess and consume alcohol beverages on licensed premises?

Yes. Persons under age 21 may possess and consume alcohol beverages if they are with their parents, guardians or spouses of legal drinking age; but this is at the discretion of the licensee.) I've worked retail in Wisconsin and Michigan and both states allow minors to touch and stock the merchandise.

They simply cannot scan it. So if a cashier in Wisconsin or Michigan was to tell a minor they can't touch it they would be in the wrong!

Why taking it with a kid?If Target pays you for being a cashier why acting as a Law enforcement?Who are you to judge someone else kids ?

The cashier should have done her job.Do not sell the beer.Do call the police if needed, period.

Respect customers no matter the age.

Also keep in mind that thanks to the customers Target gets rich selling junk and cashiers have a job.

As a matter of fact,Im white.I have two big kids.My household is smoke/drink/drug free and im against the cashier's behavior.

My household is smoke, drug and drink free as well. What are you trying to suggest that my house is not smoke, drug and drunk free?

Well I have news for you, my children were never drinking the beer. If you had read my reply you would know that my older son dared my younger daughter to open up a can and pretend to drink. Where did it say that the cashier sold me the beer. The beer was never sold to me.

I simply bought more stuff than I thought and needed to get extra money, I went to the ATM to get more money when my children loaded the cart. At this point my son dared my daughter to open up a can and PRETEND to drink from it. Maybe you should read my review and comments before judging me because of the color of my skin.

Just because I am black does not mean that my house hold is full of drugs, violence, drinking and drugs. If you had read my review and replies before judging me based on my skin color you would know this.

Guest

This is why I wish they would keep alcohol out of grocery stores and only sell alcohol in LIQUOR stores only. That way, only those who are 21 years of age can go into the store and there's no ASSUMED "confusion" on who the alcohol is being purchased for.

As a cashier myself, if I saw a kid that even remotely looked like they were getting into the pack of beer right before the purchase I don't think I would have sold it to you either. Cashiers have to be EXTREMELY careful especially when you consider that the person selling it can be arrested and PROSECUTED because of the strict laws that are in place. Target is not the sort of company that's going to stick up for their low-wage worker if the law wants to get involved either and like she said, the cameras are rolling.

I don't want to upset and I'm sure you really were only buying it for yourself but now you know: Do NOT let your kids handle the alcohol in the store (no matter how innocent you think it might be).

Andrea Ahw

Federal law prohibits the sale of alcohol to anyone under the age of 21. Anyone handling alcohol looking to be under 40 must be carded.

Do not let your kid handle alcohol in a store. I would have done the same thing only I would not have allowed the sale to go through. I tell people all the time not to let their kids touch the alcohol or I can not sell it to them. One man even gave his teenager the credit card to pay after I told him not to.

Once she slid the card, the alcohol was voided and I refused the sale. Call the cops and let them explain it to you.

Target Delivery Service Review from Tacoma, Washington

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I ordered a bed frame from target online two weeks prior to moving. I did so because according to target, it would arrive 5 days before my scheduled move, which I figured gave enough of a window for late deliveries. On the day it was supposed to be delivered I reviewed an email from efwcs stating that they won't be able to deliver until May 2nd, almost a week late. I called them because I will no longer be living at that address and need it sent to my new address, they said it's no problem. Well, May 2nd comes and goes and I call them because it says it was delivered but it's nowhere to be seen. Mind you, I took the entire day off work because they stated they will deliver it to the front door and leave it there, and I didn't want to risk my $500 bed frame being stolen so I'm absolutely certain they didn't deliver it here. I called them to confirm they had the right address and they do, but the gal who was supposed to call me back never did. I called again and nobody can give me an answer to where my package is, and target says there's nothing they can do. I am absolutely livid and will never be ordering from target online again.

Target Cashier Review from Hyattsville, Maryland

I was at the Target store in Laurel, MD. I decided to use the self-checkout but during the transaction the coupon I wanted to use did not go through. I was unable to complete the transaction and was asked to wait for assistance by the machine. I waited but no one came so I moved the items to the cash register to complete the transaction. The cashier was rude and got upset and said how I could leave the self-checkout screen as is. What was I supposed to do, nobody came and I can't stand there and wait forever. It's not like the machine was giving me an option to cancel or void the transaction. Is this how Target trains team members to criticize customers.

Target should not offer large item in-house delivery

Today, I experienced the same riciculous problems with a sofa. Why is Target even offering this (lack of) service? I requested inside delivery and had a 125 lb sofa left outside. ESTES delivery doesn't do stairs. So why is Target using them and offering inside delivery? Oh, I had a delivery window of 10 hours. Day off work w/o pay. Never showed up. Two days later, it was left outside. No, I have not and will not read and agree to the terms of service even though I will check the box to be able post this. Just for the record, I am a huge Target far and have been for decades. This is ridiculous.
